Time to get tentatively excited! And then the inevitability of disappointment that comes with tanking the original FTTP plan... that we pretty much already paid for... glories of democracy.

At the moment? Massively awesome.

100 MBit down, ~24 Mbit up
Excellent Latencies (Lucky with that, the technology is known for sometimes crapping out)
Had ONE 20 minute connection loss in a year of service.

I was lucky that i moved into an area where the provider was just updating the tech. And since my horrible job is working for a callcenter which works for the provider i got a 30% discount. Paying under 30? a month - but i had to take the damn TV+IP-Phone deal. (So i COULD watch TV over it... but i don't have a specialized receiver and no patience for "TV")

So yeah: None applies. Great connection.

No, I'm still excited. iiNet has quota free Netflix.

I get bad spikes. I've had multiple kick to menu screens in the past month while playing online games, usually to rejoin dead because a stationary target is a perforated target.

I'm actually pretty satisfied with mine. Growing up I always had terrible small town telephone isp (early on, in the 14.4 era.) Then I went to college and got spoiled because our university just had the dorms upgraded with cable internet free for students (which was the bomb back in '96.) And after that I moved to a larger city with decent providers (currently I can download an 8 gig game in about a half hour on Steam.)

Well, of the two houses where I live over in the UK, one downloads shit at a speed of about 800kb/s, and the other house downloads - or at least used to - at about 2.5mb/s. The second house, however, is currently having a massive fit, and is going from around 700kb/s to around 1.5mb/s; at least, when it isn't constantly dropping out.

I pray for internet at the speeds that you guys have.

That translates to about 7MB/s download speeds. Which is pretty freakin' sweet for a Belgian student accomodation. The only downside is the 100 GB data cap and a month, and with game install sizes growing like they do it's a little meh. It also gets a wee bit wonky sometimes as we have to log in through some kind of proxy-ISP that services student housing. No idea how much it costs as it's included in my rent.

But it's not as good as the Dutch connection at my parents' place though. That easily goes to 15mb/s download speed or something.

Pretty not-crappy actually. Used to be worse but then we changed providers, though it may be due to the fact that we splurged for 'infinite' speed with no caps. Regardless, I recommend Bell if it's in your area.

Funny thing is, Cowabunga above me is using the Speed Test module that my company directs people to who are inquiring about their current internet speed. Our highest is 200mbs download, which aside from multiple consoles gaming and streaming online at once I can't imagine not being able to cover whatever you need.

Yet now we're introducing 300mbs.

I'm also in Australia, and surprised you didn't include "two tin cans connected by string" in the poll options.

Looks like I'm...1.99 down and 0.42 up.

Have you guys ever heard of Windstream? They've been sued in the not-too-distant past because they have a sort of geographical monopoly in my area. I've seen Xfinity trucks around but despite what looks like development it doesn't look like I'm anywhere closer to getting a new internet option now than I was when they were originally sued. Another great feature of my internet connection is how it outright dies during Thunderstorms...and guess what season we happen to be in at the moment?

Blame the newbie tech guy they hired at their server. He pays attention to all those "unplug your appliances during a thunderstorm" warnings.

I've got around 350kbp/s, but I have no download caps. Australia, of course. And I'm planning on downloading Deus Ex: Mankind Divided this week.

I was getting 1.5Mbps on ADSL2+ on one exchange.

Took 6 months, 1 month with no phone and Au$600 but I managed to get connected to a closer RIM.

No physical work was required on my phone line or the exchanges, Telstra just needed to correct their database.

Now I get 19Mbps on ADSL2.

It really annoys me how the Liberal party politicised the NBN and managed to successfully spread this propaganda.

The NBN has and will cost the Australian tax payer NOTHING!

Howard set up the 'Future Fund' (FF) for exactly this purpose.
The FF lends the NBN Co Au$29.7 billion to build the NBN network, same for full FTTP or MTM (multi-technology mix inc. Vectored VDSL and HFC).
NBN Co pays a 7% return on investment.

So the Australian tax payer will not actually pay a cent and will make a few billion in interest.

Both plans 'cost' the Australian tax payer (via the FF) the same amount.
But one plan will need to be replaced before it is finished (MTM).
One plan will require an extra Au$1 bill per year in electricity and copper repairs (MTM).

So to save Au$15 bill on the build costs we will pay Telstra an extra Au$20 - 30 bill, depending on how long it is before we rip up the Vectored VDSL and HFC and run full FTTP.

Australia is a big place. FTTP can currently deliver >900Mbps at 120 Kms, Vectored VDSL struggles to deliver 28Mbps at 1km.

Wireless will not deliver the required low latency bandwidth, unless we want a very expensive mobile phone tower on every corner.

I don't know what happened in the last few months, but I think we got an upgrade at some point that I wasn't made fully aware of.

Last I checked my Download rate was 30 Mb/s at best. I was...shocked to say the least.

I don't have the figures (if someone would be so kind as to tell me how to get them), but I can say that I'm rather satisfied. I rarely have much trouble loading HD videos on YouTube at speeds that exceed the speed at which I view them. Loading times are rarely any longer than 5 seconds even with all the shitposting on the other forum even with literally a dozen of autoplaying videos on a few pages.

We have Rogers and I'm in Canada.

Occasionally things will freeze and I'll have to restart the router, but I'm also aware it's a piece of software that is running literally, not figuratively, 24/7.

It's quite ironic given the origin of my username.

I'd call it "Faster If We Just Sent a USB Stick By Post".
Hah! Punch-cards by carrier pigeon, perhaps?
