well in wow I rolled several DPS class, but in other cookie cutter rpg's (oblivian, dragon age, neverwinter nights etc) I usually play a warrior.

Healer, though it's mostly because of the fun I have when I instantly switch from helping somebody and then just casting destroy on everything.
Also most healer can wear moderate armor and I can't say how many times that AC has allowed me to finish casting inflict mass critical wounds. I just wouldn't have the option of doing that as a wizard if I came under attack.

he means more of a crowd control disable kind class with some dps mixed in. Wizards just get a special mentionCid SilverWing said:
I always play a cleric when I play D&D. They can get in on the action and still have the supernatural ability to heal people. Of course, we used to play D&D differently than the rules advised by including healing items. This came with a price though, in that you had to have a proficiency to use them effectively.

Healer - I'm just not the sort of person who really "gets" mmorpg combat. I always seem to lose one-on-one, even when I should have a clear advantage and can never seem to achieve the sort of damage I should be to make myself effective. My dps classes lose to tanks and my tanks lose to dps players something like 80% of the time.

I've always enjoyed supportive roles, or classes that let you perform multiple roles at once. On WoW, my main is a Resto Shaman. In other games, I generally try to heal or buff if I can while I let allies do all the combat. If I don't readily have a supportive role (or a class with multiple talents) as a viable option, I swing for the magic nuke to blow everything up
um ok, wow is an mmo so it does count btw. What game has archaeologists in it and why does that matter. Can a rogue tank? no. Can a rogue control mobs? no. how exactly is that speccing a rogue for anything? I guess you can, but they suck at it. Wizards get a special mention because they can use all sorts of spells that can make them tank more, control crowds, buff allies and dps.
