I try to be a healer but most of the time if it's a RPG that I'm not familiar with, I might end up as a DPS or Tank and wonder why everyone's telling me to stop healing them and start bombarding the enemy with spells or sword blows.

I have a character in WoW who is a DPS and I enjoy it, and I have spells/abilities to use in between combat to heal. I also have a pet who plays tank so I can multi-task during raids or dungeons

I think about which would be the most fun to play as, most times it's the rogue.
Just something about sneaking around and slashing people's throats open.

I usually go for the long-range or theif-type classes at first, and maybe a tank or cleric if I get bored. I try a bit of everything if I can help it.

In a DnD campaign that I'm part of, my character died early on, and he was a rogue. Since that didn't work out, I rolled up a gun-toting cleric(no, really) with much better results.

I love playing the stealth class the most because I can relax while playing and I don't rely on uber weapons or precise calculations.

Dps. In my last D&D session, I threatened to unleash a Death Curse Fireball(pretty sure the GM would've allowed it) if the stupid poverty paladin's critical failure had hit me. If it had hit me, it would've killed me.

I have always been a melee fanatic. Whether its huge swords and heavy armour or light daggers and stealthy-stealthy-kill-stealth-ystealthy or bare fists and monastic chants melee is the place for me, but I really like to dabble. So while a monkeygripped huge full blade in the hands of a half-giant swinging for 4d8+7 at level 3 will always be my absolute favourite I am open to anything even spellcasting (and although lobing fireballs from the back row can get kind of stale even if you are the ultimate glass canon, I can see where the mage-man is coming from).

Tank. I like the responsibility, and often the playstyle. I don't mind dying for my team as long as it heavily contributed to us succeeding. Also love not being squishy.

Well the only MMORPG I play is eve online, but in that I primarly play the Tank, though I have been know to dable in the fine art of Repping or DPS, though the last two usually introduce me to the wonderful world of flying a pod...

In RPG's (Oblivion for example) I will create a class for everything, though I usually go a direct combat role the first time round to get a feel for the game.

im a Rogue,i love loot! big fat valuable loot! i scout,pick locks,spot,disable traps,and stab things in the back.but when i can i like to become a strength based rogue then a dex based rogue.my dex is still reasonable for a rogue,but maintaining a high strength allows me to wear heavier armor and use heavier weapons with ease.my dex is mostly just for picking locks,i hate bashing a chest open knowing im gonna break something thus get less items\gold...
im not the best rogue,but im a rogue with a 2h weapon and heavy armor (when allowed)and thats something! and dont say "if your gonna go that just roll warrior!" cause i get skills that a warrior doesnt when i play like this. and yes this play does work,it just takes a while before it gets good.lol

Melee DPS, usually warrior. If there's something that years of gaming has thought me, its that whoever wields the most unreasonably large weapon wins.

Don't think I've ever gone generic melee character, mages almost always enjoy some variety.

I am and always have been a warlock.

In DND, in WoW (when I played it *shudder*), and in any other game that was a warlocky equivalent.

My second choice is tank, and I normally gear my lock to be capable of taking damage if something goes awry.

I hate being a healbot, but in a solo game, I make sure I can heal... OFF THE SOULS OF MY ENEMIES!!!

I DPS but as a mage, so lots of fire balls. If there is a way to then i will pick up healing as well.

Though i've never really played an MMO, so thats things like DAO and Oblivion.
