From my and my friends' experience, they suck.

My best friend was bullied after school by some adult (18-19) girls, the police caught them and asked her to come to the station. They placed the suspects in the room, and asked my friend to look through the mirror and tell which ones attacked her. She pointed the two who did it, and then... the cops went inside and took those girls, while my friend was still on the other side of the room.

So they got to see her face and swear + threaten a bit more. Stupidity at its finest.

I have no problem with police officers, PCSOs are a different story. But my main problem is with the people who LOVE the police, when you think the police are allowed to punish innocent people to deter a potential minor crime... Thats when corruption spreads.
So true! The PCSO's seem to get more power every day its so very wrong.

Of course, I mean everything I say has something to do with my idealology after all.
I dont believe I said everything, did I?

This certainly does though, the reason fascism grows is because of increased policing.

The majority of them get into the job because they crave power, but are too thick to get into any other sort of powerful position.
And the type of people who crave power are the ones who really shouldn't have it.

My experiences with the police have been frustrating, to say the least. The ones that weren't corrupt as all hell were completely incompetant.
That said, I do not hold a grudge against police officers in general. Some of them really do only get into the job to serve and protect.
So rather than condemn the lot of them for being power-hungry thugs and incompetant idiots, I like to give them the benifit of the doubt.
Because I am totally fucking naive, it seems.
How many police officers have you known to be able to make that type of judgement? Not how they acted toward someone who was, in their eyes, in the process of breaking the law, but how they composed themselves on a day to day basis. I know that police forces vary from location to location, country to country, but I've dealt with quite a few from a couple USA states and cities in my time and I would have to completely disagree with your statement. Many of them join the force to serve and protect, while some really do crave power.

Are most judges power hungry individuals who have more intelligence and are only slightly less "thick", as you put it? Are most firefighters hellbent on being pyros and playing with fire? Are most doctors sadistic and wanting to watch others writhe in pain because of injuries or afflictions? I'd have to answer no to those questions myself.

I won't even comment on that last line.

Edit - Wow, I'd actually really like to know how all these people can so easily say that "all the cops I've met are corrupt". What situations happened that showed their corruption, or is it just that you disagree with their enforcement of the law upon you or those you know? What situations happened that have shown their incompetance? How would you people have handled the situation instead/what did they do wrong in your eyes? Can you honestly say you would have thought clearly under the same circumstances? How would you deal with the constant issues of individuals spitting at your feet and calling you "pig" etc... for upholding the law and protecting the population? I'm not justifying anything; I'm just asking why so many here seem so quick to pass judgement just because they don't like having to abide by the rules.

Give the cops a rest. Its the worlds second most ungreatfull work, but they still do it. How would you sleep at night, if there were no police? 85% of crime is preventet by the simple fact that there are a police force. so BE FUCKING GREATFULL!!!

I live in Adelaide. Which is in SA. Which is in Australia. Due to Adelaide being the city with the most murderers in a state that's basically a giant desert in a contry that's a deathtrap, cops are a necessity, since this would be fucking Mad Max without them...

So how do you feel about cops?

I never Liked them, its a famliy thing. My Dad was throwen into jail for 2 years for a non-voilent drug crime, my mom was sexually assaulted by a cop and abused while being arrested for missing a probation meeting on her birthday. We tried to press charges but he got away with it. The cop stalked my famliy for a long while broke down are door once even though it was unlocked and he had no reason too.

But down to the point how do you feel about them and what personal experience have you have with them?
My stepdad is a policeman, and while he is the most stupid person I have ever met, he is also quite a nice guy.

And concerning your experiences with cops: The guy who did that to your mom seems pretty bad, but you're not telling us what she was on probation for. Also, he was one person, not the entire police force. And concerning your dad, first of all he did commit a drug crime, it's not like he shoplifted a candybar. Of course you think it was too harsh, you're his son, but to be honest you're not exactly unbiased. And isn't it the judge who decides the punishment? So how is it the fault of the police that the judge was unfair (or unfair in your opinion)?
My dad I will admite prolly deserved that two years it did help for awhile but he sliped back into bad habits. My mom again was on probation for... surprise pot. The thing is that nether of my parent never hurt anyone and this cop seem to think other wise and decided to harrase are famliy, what happen to the cop though was he was moved to a differnt station because the other cops did not like him. Due to this incedent my mom still has not been able to move pass it she should have gotten off probation 3 years ago, while the police don't enforce it she still has to deal with that hanging over her head. The cop should have been throwen in jail or atleast loss his job.

Yes it does but that's not the point.
Just because something I say may be related to fascism doesn't mean I'm trying to reference fascism.
That must get old after a while hrm? Especially since you don't bring it up almost every post like some other individuals I know who are aligned with a certain political ideal. *cough*

But this is related... I am saying why wouldnt a fascist like police?! Of course you would, like gay men like men... if they say they like men in uniform then clearly that has something to do with them being gay even if they dont say it.

I haven't met so many cops, but here in Norway, almost all cops I've met were nice people, but then again I live in a city with 4-5000 inhabitants, not that big city crap.

Being a police officer is a job people choose, because someone must make the world a little safer, think how it would've been without cops.

I don't really care, as long as they don't get in my way.
Said Ted Bundy.

OP: you can't really blame the cops too much, they're only doing what they get paid for, the actual law makers and justice system are the things that are majorly fucked up, and as we're too far down the line to change much regarding policy we've just got to cope with what we've got the best we can.

I... Wait, what? I was not expecting that, I even brought myself a drink and some snacks... I was expecting to be in this for the long haul... well, I can go to the toilet now. YAAAY! :D
