look, honestly, i understand that if you slash someone's arm off they should be bleeding from the stump. I still find it disgusting and usually disturbing. At best, i am mildly amused. At worst, I am completely turned off of whatever it is.
I'm surprised i like L4D2 so much. I just shot a zombies crotch open and he kept running at me with his innards falling out trailing behind him. So i shot him in the head and chunks of brain and skull went flying out the new hole in the of his head. But honestly, in L4D2, things are so frantic that i completely ignore the near blindness caused by cutting through a horde of zombies with a machete. I'm too focused on my goal, to notice exactly what i'm doing. I end up tuning out the gore almost completely.
I will NEVER. EVER. watch a movie like saw. end of story. I don't find gore for the sake of gore entertaining. Neither will i watch most horror movies, but there are other reasons mixed in there. I also thought that the gore in The Watchmen was not in the movies favor, so i don't really like it in my action flicks either.
*edit* ah yes, the realism factor. If it is unrealistic for there to be gore, like you cut a stick figure in two or are drawing silly comics(pretty much any time it is completely unnecessary), then it is ALWAYS disgusting.
