I depends really, if it's something where you're in a realistic world then realistic gore suits it. But if it's a fantasy game like Brutal Legend or Dawn of War then tonnes of gore is awesome.

It really depends what I'm playing. I wouldn't want ARMA II to have over the top gore, but I wouldn't want Gears to have hardly any gore.
but in general, how much do you like.
I generally like a lot of it, it's always fun to see explosions of blood.

look, honestly, i understand that if you slash someone's arm off they should be bleeding from the stump. I still find it disgusting and usually disturbing. At best, i am mildly amused. At worst, I am completely turned off of whatever it is.

I'm surprised i like L4D2 so much. I just shot a zombies crotch open and he kept running at me with his innards falling out trailing behind him. So i shot him in the head and chunks of brain and skull went flying out the new hole in the of his head. But honestly, in L4D2, things are so frantic that i completely ignore the near blindness caused by cutting through a horde of zombies with a machete. I'm too focused on my goal, to notice exactly what i'm doing. I end up tuning out the gore almost completely.

I will NEVER. EVER. watch a movie like saw. end of story. I don't find gore for the sake of gore entertaining. Neither will i watch most horror movies, but there are other reasons mixed in there. I also thought that the gore in The Watchmen was not in the movies favor, so i don't really like it in my action flicks either.

*edit* ah yes, the realism factor. If it is unrealistic for there to be gore, like you cut a stick figure in two or are drawing silly comics(pretty much any time it is completely unnecessary), then it is ALWAYS disgusting.

I like to have a bloodfest but it sometimes depends on the game.
If i'm playing a game that is trying to be realistic then I'd like there to be a realistic amount of blood in it, If the game i'm playing is trying to be insane an over-the-top then let us paint the town red!

In context. I expect some blood when I shoot someone in the chest. I expect intestines when I shotgun someone in the stomach, and spines when I rip them...oh wait, AvP already did that.

Realistic gore is probably overestimated by most people, it's just not that much fun to watch. That's why I voted Extremely over the top, it makes it so removed from reality there's no way to find it disgusting, admittedly it's hard to find things disgusting these days. I like the blood in Assassin's Creed, it's a little over the top, but it's still within human limits.

Gore is fine... But I'd much prefer the system resources in making it go everywhere, was just reinvested into better bounce physics.

I love me some game bewbs.

Depends on the game. Most of my games have very little gore (sauerbraten, team fortress 2, morrowind, zeno clash) but I'd prefer a bit more every now and then. When you get to gore for the sake of gore like the blood splatters on your screen in L4D2, then you're wasting your time.

Fallout without bloody mess wasn't too over the top. With it, it made all the NPCs limbs turn into jello when they died.

Completely over the top that's why I love splatterhouse!
Finally, someone else who actually enjoyed that game!

I will admit that I do like my gorey games, I'm normally a very passive and peaceful person so I find it extremely theaputic to spray more than a small country's worth of the red stuff around when I'm irritated or stressed.

So yes, I enjoy my gore with a vengeance.

PS: I was tempted to make a joke about 'How do you like your gore in the morning? I like mine with a hug', but...I'll leave it to someone else.

Deeepeeeends.
The excessive amount of gore in the Fallout 3 series, like when you fire a successful gunshot right into someone's face can be very satisfying, but it can indeed be tedious and my mom won't stop complaining about all the gore in games so it'd be nice to get that off my back. -_-

I like it informative (sign of a hit) and cool. Not over-the-top or blocking any views.

It really depends.
If its something serious I want it to be realistic - which could mean an accurate depiction or none at all depending on how it serves the game - like Heavy Rain.
If its something outrageous I want it to be hilariously over the top like in Bulletstorm or even Magicka.
