I have a bookmark I use for every book I read.

I bought this clip thing once that you slid onto to page you were on. Sounded like a great idea, until it ripped the page :-(

You can't stand people who like to keep their things in good condition? Honestly?

Anyway, I use a book mark since I don't like creasing the pages.
in general, yes.

I like to use a bookmark when I want to mark my reading place in a book. One of the bookmarks I am using right now is an old stick of RAM. I was to lazy to find a regular bookmark so I grabbed an old stick of RAM that was laying around and stuck it in the book.

I went with other. I work on the bookmark principle, but just use anything I have lying around. Of the books I'm currently reading (for example) their respective pages are marked with a pen, a bank statement, a packet of rolling papers, and a ruler.

I leave mine folded open. Ruins the spines I hear, but I'm not likely to sell the book, nor do I care about appearance. Unless pages are missing of course.

I use a book mark. It is a card from the restaurant I used to work at. I ended up collecting dozens of them so, I use those as bookmarks.

I remember what page it is and find it next time, I don't bother using a bookmark. Although Sometimes I can only remember where I am approximately.

Bookmark if available (almost always) or paperslips.

There is no need to ruin the book.

Even the mere thought of letting you anywhere near my books makes me wince, egad.

As you might gather from the preceding remark, I do not fold, spindle, or mutilate my reading material - I use an improvised bookmark (for the last several years that has been a trading card I got out of the Dawn of War: Dark Crusade box).

I tend to use something to stand in as a bookmark, whether it be an actual bookmark, receipt for the book (probably the most common), receipt for something I bought at the same time as the book, or whatever other thin scrap I can find.

If I can't find anything suitable, I'll dog-ear the page, but I don't like doing that because a) I try to keep my books neat, and b) I have a habit of not undoing the fold, and will end up with multiple dog-eared pages.

After having to have several of my favoriter books rebound and covered due to extreme wear (used to read books with the binding completely folded backwards in half), I've become much more protective of what I read.

I stick to using a bookmark, adn though I have several dedicated markers (a few book thongs and old Village Bookstore bookmarks from Littleton, NH), right now I'm using the bus ticket from my last trip home for my father's funeral.

I'm guessing dog-ear means folding the page? I've never heard that expression...
Although I've manned up Mogworld with a Hello Kitty bookmark.

But Paula Abdul says opposites attract!

We can become great friends. Just don't ask if you can borrow my books!

Umm bookmarks mostly. OR random paper at reach. Sometimes I just memorize the exact page when I am too sleepy, or dog-ear the page. Or leave the book by the bad faced downwards, open.

Or nothing of the above I just go to sleep, and next time I take it I search where I was.

Remind me not to lend any of my stuff to you, then.

OT: I use a bookmark, generally in the form of a scrap of paper, a tissue, or a used concert/train ticket. My last two books have had their pages marked by a Smashing Pumpkins ticket. My current one is marked with the receipt for the book itself.

Usually I just make sure to get to certain points each sitting (usually chapter beginnings) before finishing, then memorise where I'm up to from that. Haven't used a bookmark in years.
