If I can find it again, I have this really epic bookmark (used to be the cover to some apocalyptic book), but usually I don't have time or patience to hunt one down so I dog ear the page or stick chunks of old letters in there.

If the book has jacket flaps, I use the one that's closest to my spot. Either that or I use any small piece of paper.

I use a bookmark, which is usually a slip of paper of some kind, like a receipt or a scrap or something. Rarely do I use an actual bookmark.

I just remember the number... I have a terrible memory but those numbers stick in my head quite easily

I use a playing card, half the cards are missing now from when I misplace or destroy a card when reading.

Bookmark. I use a 10000 rubbles bill I got from a trip in Moscow in 1996. That thing isn't worth what it looks like it should be worth, and I couldn't exchange it back once I got back to Canada, so yeah.... pretty awesome bookmark.
£200 bookmark, I like your style.
Oh, believe me, I would much rather use the money! But every bank or exchange bureau I contacted back in 1996/1997 didn't exchange rubles. I should have exchanged them back to american dollars when I was in Moscow. So, since I'm stuck with this piece of paper who is worth a few hundred dollars, but ONLY when I'm visiting the Kremlin, I thought I could use it as a nice bookmark.

Maybe I should try and see if 14 years of waiting have helped the canadians banks figure out what rubles are.

I used to dog-ear my books as a child, but everytime I buy a book from Chapters/Indigo they practically shove bookmarks down my throat..so yeah, I use book-marks.

What the hell are dog-ears?
Bending the corner of a page. Only heretics do that.
I go through books and carefully straighten out all the corners.
