I have a Penguin of Death bookmark knocking about for just such an occasion :)

eeehhhh.....However I tend to forget it, heh. I just try to remember my page then, and hope for the best.

I don't. I remember either the page number, or the vicinity of where I last read and I look for where I stopped. Less stuff I have to worry about losing, and I just don't like dog-earing books.

Dog-ear, much easier. If my books are still readable then that's all I need, I'm not going to sell them at any point.

With me I have bookmarks for particular books (or series of books), so, for example, a favourite Star Wars novel of mine has it's own personal bookmark.

However, often I just use of bit of scrap paper that's floating about, bits of envolopes, flyers, newsletters, notice sheets, y'know, stuff you read once and then lives on the coffee table.

I used to fold the corners but now I don't like to 'cos I'm a bit too precious with books and I did used to memorise page numbers instead of bookmarking at all but cos I read too many books at once that stopped being practical.

You are abusing your books! I like having a nice, straight book that isn't too badly damaged after reading it...

Bookmark, definitely. To be perfectly honest, dog-ear'd pages bugs me. It also bugs me when people use books as coasters, especially if it's a book I lent them.

I know how you feel. People are so annoying when they get like that over them. Personally, I love the feel of a well worn book, it shows that it's been cherished and has truly fulfilled it's purpose.

I used to do this, but the amount of times I accidentally knocked the book over, and lost the page. My god, it was mortifying. It's definitely the dog ear nowadays.

Wherever I happen to fall asleep face forward in the book has a wonderful line of drool marking my page when I wake up...Nah, just kidding. I use pretty much all conventional methods of marking pages depending on what kind of book I'm reading. Usually I just memorize the page or chapter I'm on.

I always use a bookmark, or something that could resemble a bookmark, like a loose piece of paper.

Usually with some random piece of paper that's lying round. Otherwise with a piece of paper ripped out of a notebook.
