I remember the page number.

Yey... I don't have any bookmarks and dislike folding pages... So memorising the page number and exact word I last read is the way I roll.

It depends on the situation. If it's a book I don't mind getting a little used, then I'll fold a corner over, but if I have a bookmark I'll use that. If I'm ony putting it down for a moment, then I'll simply leave it open on that page, but facing down, if I'm putting it down for a moment and I have a pen or pencil in my hand then I'll stick that in to keep my page and leave.

If it isn't my book however, then I'll either use a bookmark, or just flat-out close the book and then find my page later.

If it's got a jacket, I use that. Otherwise, I just use whatever little piece of paper is most readily available. Receipts, playing cards, magazine subscription cards, tickets, whatever.

I try to book mark but every time I finish a page I put the book mark in just in case I close it. that or just leave the book open on that page.

I use other, smaller books.

Okay, usually I dog ear, but I have used smaller books on occasion, when I'm reading both. At one point, I was reading The Divine Comedy, and as a bookmark I was using Plato's Gorgias. Felt like the most awesomely pretentious SOB on the planet.

Actually, though I normally dog ear, on rare occasion I mark my place in a manner specific to the book. Graphic novels, Calvin and Hobbes, Tolkien, and a few others, I will bookmark it because it seems inappropriate to mar the page. Terry Pratchett, I dog ear like crazy, mark random pages just to re-read later, place the book page down on a table, and generally ruffle them up because the book seems like it deserves to be well worn, and feel well read.

These days I mostly mark my place by having that place stored in my Kindles memory.

Bookmark, because my mother is a librarian and raised us on the principle that dog-earing a book is worse than genocide.

There was this girl at an anime convetnion selling part two of Yokai Doctor for a dollar since it was in really bad condition. She thought there had to be somebody who'd want to buy it. She was right; I bought it and now I use the pages as bookmarks.

Why would I need that? It's not like I'm going to close the book until I've read through the entire thing.

I usually use a bookmark. I can't stand dog-earing, unless I really hate the book that I'm reading.
