It's inconsequential and I know it. However, if someone insists in zed being proper, I do have this to say: You pronounce the h in Herb. I don't, but I admit that fair is fair, your way makes more sense. "erb" sounds proper to me but I can admit that that is because of my cultural immersion. But while you need a vowel sound to make the letter z into a proper sounding word, the letter D has absolutely no place in there. It is irrational. Zed sounds silly, ruins the rhyming scheme, and does not clarify anything. It is dead weight. It doesn't matter enough to make a case for, but if you must make a case for Zed, I must point out that its a bad case to make.
