I'm curious how people view or what people initially think when they meet a dwarf.

(All due respect to dwarves and if any take offense to this question I apologize, I mean no harm)

I'm usually creeped out by dwarves, but I don't hold it against them or anything. It would be some much easier to accept them if they all grew great, big, bushy beards.

I'm going to be honest here and choose "Freaks".

We're talking about fantasy dwarves, right? Crazy axewielding drunk bearded midgets.

Oh, I thought you meant the fictional ones. Which are awesome, since they have Honeydew.
As for the real life "equivalent", they are just normal people. We get tall people as well, so what if someone is a bit short, or has a different colour hair, or is left handed. They're all people.
Except the clones and cyborgs...
Also, I wouldn't refer to them as "Dwarves".

Oh no, you didn't...

Well, there's nothing wrong with people with the condition, in terms of being a functioning individual in our society. So, I don't regard them any differently than I'd view others.

... And can you call them dwarves? That doesn't sound too well in my ears, anyway.

i totally agree with this, but if i had to describe them as a group i would call them dwarves, as its a lot nicer than saying midgets or other degrading names.

At least you know what they're talking about when they call them dwarves.

Unlike all the other god forsaken PC names.

Normal. But for the sake of complete honesty, I chose option 4 as it does take me a few seconds to get used to it.

Fair point, I guess. Just trying to be as incredibly inoffensive as humanly possible.

I think the preferred term (at least in the US) is 'Little People', which sounds fucking horrible to me, but if that's considered the least offensive term then so be it.

This is one of those points when it's not political correctness, it's just basic politeness to call people whatever they find least offensive.

With regards to refering to them as "dwarves" it is the scientific name for the condition so no bias and the alternatives of "little people" and such seem demeaning. As I said earlier I apologize for any offense created.

Is there a doesn't really bother me because I am 6 1/2 feet tall option or is that just the normal people option.

EDIT - Every one is a dwarf to me.
