Well, I suck at typing, and I use two fingers on each hand.

What the fuck is this wpm thing you're all talking about?
wpm = words per minute.

I am a little sceptical about the guy claiming 130-150.

I can type on average 130-150 WPM, and I generally only use the (get this) first two fingers on my right hand and the middle finger on my left hand.

When I get all my fingers in there I almost top off at 200. I'm working at that.

I use all my fingers while typing. I don't know what my speed is, I'm not really slow but I try to be accurate, which definitely slows me down.

4 if you include my thumb for the spacebar, and I'm pretty sure I don't really use my little finger-though typing this I really I use it for the Shift key, so yes, all.

I can type pretty fast. But my friend can type like 2 to 3 paragraphs in a minute.
That, my lad, is very hard to believe. I'm eager to see me wrong though, do you have proof of this?

Is there a test or something to determine your wpm?
Not an official one as far as I am aware.

Just go into Microsoft Word, set a timer for a minute on your watch etc. and type as fast as you can.
To ensure it makes sense it's probably an idea to write about something you know e.g. what you did that day or something.
At the end of the minute simply look at the word count.

That's how I figured out my approximate wpm anyway.
Maybe there is an official way but it's not like you need an exact number, most people round it up to the nearest 5 or 10 anyway.

But each word is different in lenght. Ugh, this doesn't make sense.

I type using a combination of two or three fingers on each hand. Since I've been on the Escapist my typing, spelling and grammar have got a lot better, but it's still a home-grown style of typing - but hey it seems to work for me.

I don't know, but you can try it yourself if you want.

All you need is your computer with Word and a timer. First, write something on paper about what you want to write about. Then set the timer to 1 minute and type your chosen subject on Word. Make it as you want to.
After one minute, you stop and count how many words you have typed.
Do 2 to 3 more runs with other subjects and count those too.

Them there's a bit of math. For instance, you did 3 runs and they had 69, 55 and 78 words.

(69+55+78)/3= 67.3 wpm
