I only use my index fingers for typing.
Which is pretty surprising, considering I actually type quite fast.
However, I also spend absurd amounts of time going over what I've just typed out making sure I don't sound like an idiot, so it's pretty balanced out.

It depends on the keyboard I'm using. On my personal keyboard, I can't ever use ten fingers because my hands just feel weird because I have been using two-fingers for so long. On a school computer, I can usually use ten fingers.

I use four of my fingers to type. I can type very quickly but I'm not particularly accurate a lot of the time. I would type faster if I made less mistakes.

I voted four fingers on each hand. I usually type with five on each, but my spacebar is broken so I've been copying and pasting spaces rather than typing them, and my thumbs have become dormant.

This might be a good yardstick to determine how fast I type: I can write faster than I type. Seriously. I type at about 25-30wpm, and my maximum writing speed, including all punctuation and correct spelling, can be up to 40wpm. Even under normal circumstances, my writing speed is comparable to the lower limits of my typing performance.

I'm a one-finger typist as you may have realised; I never saw any particular reason to learn how to touch-type.
I'm seriously impressed. You mean you wrote that ever-so-long post about the old Mainframe with one finger?

Didn't it get sore?

I'm a programmer so I spend a good chunk of every day typing.

Oddly it was actually World of Warcraft that gave me my speed and accuracy, you really learn to type fast and well when failing to do so can mean death and a long corpse run and possibly clearing trash again.

Edit: woops forgot that to put that I type with all my fingers.

I also never have to look at the keyboard to see what I'm doing anymore, its just natural these days.

I usually use just two fingers and my thumbs, but I still find it easier to do than writing instead.

I'm one of those strange people who only use 1 or 2 fingers while typing, it just feels unnatural trying to use more. I'm noticing now I mostly use one finger on each hand, but switch to two for certain combinations of keys.

I'm pretty sure when I did a test my results were something like 70wpm, so faster than average at least, i'm not sure really if it's classed as 'good' or not but I know I type faster than most people I know. I reached this level of typing skill about 4 years ago and haven't improved since so i've probably hit the barrier of only typing with two fingers and the next step would be to learn how to type with more. It just feels 'wrong' when I try and i'm a lot slower and make more mistakes.

I never learned how to type the "right" way. I just memorized where each letter is and type that way (with one finger on each hand).

At full speed I type around 110 wpm with few backspaces. I can hit 150 wpm with a lot of backspaces. My brother, in comparison, can type 120 wpm with many backspaces and he's a professional programmer.

Like I said, I also use only 2 fingers on each hand, but only for some months now. I prefer to type with the two 'pointfingers' and I rarely make mistakes, good hand-eye co-ordination keeps it up.

I've tested myself on my own test(look some posts back) and I came out on roughly 100 wpm.

Your poll... I should get my mind out the gutter.
I type with 3/4, but I never really noticed. I'm quite fast at typing to say I didn't know how until 3 years ago.
