Lies, all lies. Your opinion on music, and EVERYONE's opinion on music are ENTIRELY subjective.

Rap and Hip-Hop for example, in my opinion, are unlistenable and barely qualify as music.
And some people are exceedingly defensive about the music they like.

-3 Your number 1 was too much like rock for me. The most harsh music I like is queen.

I like 30s-40s jazz and 80s-90s pop.

Well, it does have negative potential if someone says "Its not music", although he means "In my opinion its not music". But I have to agree, everybody has their taste of music.

Let's not go offtopic any further. :)

You know "The Fray"?

Minus two.

EDIT: Well, that's not true.

The heaviest song I have on my iPod is this:

Alongside The Fray, Natasha Bedingfield, David Crowder, Akira Yamaoka, etc. Make of that what you will.

I spend most of my time between 7-11...Dillinger Escape Plan and Mastodon are about as heavy as I get. #11 on your list is just noisy garbage.

I go beyond 11. If 11 is Anal ****, which isn't a serious band, then I go beyond it.

Nice... always good to see a bit of Mayhem.

Personally I mostly listen to 7+, but like a bit of everything. And since everyone's posting things they reckon go beyond the scale, why not share a bit of British black metal?

I can go up to 9-10 before it gets a little too heavy for me.

Between 7 and 9. I'd say the music I listen to it is really balanced (and entirely focused) in that group.

Ah damn, not TV tropes!

(9 hours later)

About 9 at the most, 5-6 at the least. Pop and soft rock just sound thin and watery to me.

I like classic metal, if you want to call it that. The heaviness that I like, if it suits the song, than great, if not... well does it sound good?

For metal, I like Metallica, Sabbath, some Slayer, Alice in Chains the list goes on. As long as the song has something memorable about it, I tend to like it.

Also, I'm a huge fan of Coheed and Cambria, and while they aren't metal, I love how they have a variety of "flavors" in their music, and still have a unique "taste". Welcome Home, by them is a pretty heavy song, whereas A Favor House Atlantic, or Blood Red Summer, are much lighter.

Needs more variation. Anal **** is a bad reference to use. Maybe throw in some Nile, Mayhem, etc.

Actually, I'd say I like my dance music hard and heavy, and my rock music soft and light.

I like everything up to 9. 10 is kind of pushing it, not to say that I couldn't enjoy something from that category. 11 was just crap to me. Loud sounds and screaming music does not make. However, loud sounds and screaming to an organized rhythm does count.

BTW, where on this do you think DragonForce might land? I'll take anyone's opinion.
