I listen to all numbers, 1 through 11, though I spend most of my listening time between 8 and 10.

Also, Anal ****. Seriously? If you're going to choose bands for examples at least pick bands that are at least trying to be serious.

BTW, where on this do you think DragonForce might land? I'll take anyone's opinion.
DragonForce does not belong on this list. Power Metal is lame.
You said anyone's opinion.

I'm all over the board. But one of my favorite bands is
so I guess I like my music pretty damn heavy. What is this example, 10? 11?

Dethklok is as heavy as I've gone. But when its all unintelligible and screaming with no sense of melody, then we have a problem.

The rock music I prefer usually lies below 5, mostly Coldplay and The Killers. I can tolerate 6 but anything above that is too hard for my tastes. Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce and Rock You Like a Hurricane by The Scorpions are exception.

11 is static to my ears.

I'm not a big fan of hard music, but I prefer it as heavy as possible (yes, there's a distinction)

probably about 8 through 10. But I'm more into stuff like black, prog and folk - which can still be pretty fucking brutal.

I can go up to 9-10 before it gets a little too heavy for me.
You're the only person I've ever come across who even knows who Eluveitie is. All of their music is fantastic, even their folk album.

EDIT: Fixed typo.

Wow, I'm impressed. I didn't think I would find somebody from the USA to liste to WBTBWB, even in Germany its a underground band that not many people know about. I'd say its a 10.

I like a lot of different types of music, but in the metal genre I've actually been listening to a lot of death-core lately, idfk why.
But number 11... my god that is just annoying. o.o
No offense, but Idk anyone who would listen to that and feel anything besides a migraine. o.o

I'm with you on that one, although Inis Mona kind of bothers me, being the one song by the mthat everyone likes/knows, and hence their other better songs get ignored.
Ah, sorry to rant, great band.
PS: sorry for double posting. /hug

I guess I'm 1-5 in your range. I just don't like metal. I do like a lot of hardcore punk and noise rock, though. Those are just as loud.

I listen to the range dude, but have no qualms with residing at the top. I can never find music heavy enough to slate my thirst for brutality yet, at the same time, I love the sweet and melodious song of Atulia.

Heavy Metal is the epitome of musical excellence.
(exquisite choice in examples, might I add)

Nice choice in avatar; it's always good to see another wizard fan out there, roaming the wilds.

I love heavy street/crust punk; most of the other stuff I listen to is softer, like psychedelic and goth.

I like Fields of the Nephilim, who I would place at 4 or 5, as well as the Krum Bums, who are well into the 9-10 range.
