The scale only really works for rock and metal though, so keep that in mind.
Well that sort of excludes me from this entirely. I would have thought this could apply to electro/techno/punk as well.

I think those fall between 8 and 10.

Mind you, I like stuff down much lower than that as well.

This is my favourite song of theirs.

Between 1 and 2. I'm not into the really heavy stuff but more classic rock. Aerosmith, Billy Joel, ect.

Up to an 8. There might be one or two exceptions higher than that, but once the singing goes out the window I generally don't find it appealing any more.

i think that a better example of 11 would be something that's actually good like fleshgod apocalypse or something.

Meh, I don't really know. I do know that the more screaming in a song there is, the more I stop classifying it as music. That also coincides with the fact that many screamy songs have annoying, toneless music accompanying them. IF there is interesting music (like an audible guitar and drums rather than bricks being thrown at a car), I can tolerate screaming to a degree. I actually like it when bands have part scream, part singing. The singing implies actual talent (yes, this was meant to offend some of you... sorry), and the screaming can sound really cool with it if done correctly.

LOL to an Anal **** reference... awsome.

I'd say 9.5. I listen to alot of Devildriver, Amon Amerth, Lamb of God... harder then slayer but not quite to CC lvls. and i listen to anal **** for pure amusement purposes who doesn't love a song title like "Women, natures punching bag"?

Honestly, I enjoy every song on the list. I even laughed at 11.

Generally I end up listening to things between 5-10 at home, (with certain songs being definitely heavy but having clearly defined melodic sounds and less growling voices) and stuff from like 1-7 at work. Most of my friends are the 11 type, and that's fine, I'm just more of a 5-8ish guy, but again, I enjoy it all.

And again, this is just rock/metal. Doesn't really encompass other things that aren't exactly 'heavy' but I find them even more awesome.

agreed. Just because its crazy and fast doesn't mean its 'heavy'. There are plenty of unlistenable groups/musicians out there that don't play metal. <youtube=nz4a_mvCZ_A>

Personally I listen to everything from 1-10, and some 11 too.

EDIT: I realize the video i posted is also a form of performance art with music, but still.

I don't mind heavy stuff but I draw my limit when the lyrics are screamed

Disturbed is probably as heavy as I go

I listen to all sorts of shit. Sigur Ros (less than 1), Mogwai (1-5, depending on song), Boris (5-10), Ahab (10), Motograter (8-10), Isis (maybe about 3-11), Iwresteldabearonce (10-11), Neurosis (0-11), The Church (3, tops), and so on. I do listen to a love the fuck out of a lot of the really heavy stuff (especially the slower genres, like doom/funeral doom especially, and more melodic stuff) but my all-time favorites tend to be towards the lower end (Sigur Ros, Mogwai, This Will Destroy You, The Go-Betweens, etc).

And some better examples (in my opinion) for higher numbers of heaviness:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTVwqRJnNBY (Ahab, "The Sermon")(this is about a 12 for me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoEY5NoaMuw (Rosetta, "Wake")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg2mEfush5A (Swallow the Sun, "Sleepless Swans")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7pbgggLTp0 (Rammstein, "Mein Teil")
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEVyDjxsUrk (Neurosis, "Locust Star")(this one is easily a 10 for me)
The main riff (comprising of he majority of the song) of this is somewhere towards the upper end but I don't know where (warning: drone music ahead. Long live Sunn O))), the masters of drone): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK5mN8ha5Xg (pt 1) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OF3MLCCY9z8 (pt 2)
