"I like my coffee black, just like my metal." Whoever gets that wins some of my respect.
I can go 1-7.
Mindless Self Indulgence, Shut Me Up.

I was listening to that song just five minutes ago. Great album.

I usually listen to Disturbed, which I'd say is a 7.8(?)

When I'm gaming, I'll tolerate up to about 10ish.
Disturbed is like 1.
Eh? Are we talking about the same thing?

You can't put Disturbed lower than a six...

Oh don't get me wrong, I love screamo soooo much it's an addiction.

But I'm not a huge fan of the screamo where you can't understand shit. the only exception to that is As I lay Dying and The Devil Wears Prada.

i think that a better example of 11 would be something that's actually good like fleshgod apocalypse or something.

example:

Okay, I'll swap it out. My experience in that level is limited, so I was kind of flying blind in terms of choices...

Thanks for the suggestion.

If AxCx is 11, some of the heaviest stuff I listen to is probably a 13. (Behold... the Arctopus)

Ik like ambient too, though, so that makes a zero.

1-9 that's how heavy I can go any heavier and I get a headache
that and I don't like cannibal corpse or black metal in general
so would death metal fit around nine?
Older death metal and melo-death would, but brutal death metal would be more of a ten.

Usually 1-5, I don't really mind 6-7 although most of the stuff I listen to lies below that. Anything above that is probably too hard for my taste.

Great scale by the way, can't believe I haven't heard of it before :D

between 1 and 8.5

I wonder where bathory would fit?

I'll listen to anything up to Amon Amarth, Wolfchant, and Arch Enemy. I never liked cannibal corpse.

Anything between 1 and 9. In fact, right now I listen to a playlist that played a Led Zeppelin song and then a Slayer song.

Your scale seems very broken. Sorry, but I think the leap from regular Death Metal (Cannibal Corpse) to whatever the fuck your 11 is supposed to be is retarded. You do know there is heavier stuff than Cannibal Corpse that is actually music? The Faceless, Suicide Silence, The Black Dahlia Murder etc.
Plus, Anthrax to Slayer makes sense, but what about Black Metal? Much heavier than Thrash, not as heavy as Death.
Anyway, I can listen to the heaviest stuff, as long as it's still musically correct, and it still sounds like music, instead of idiots screaming and hitting instruments.
However, my favourite bands sit around your 8 and 9. I do really like Cannibal Corpse, but I love bands like Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Slayer, Dream Theater.
I fixed the eleven. I'm not very familiar with that level, so I was kind of guessing a bit.

The link had some examples of black metal, I wasn't familiar enough with it to really put an example. The more ambient stuff would start around nine, with most falling in near ten. It's not as musically heavy as, say, Brutal Death Metal, but it's very harsh. Some black metal goes to 11 though.

I've heard some Iced Earth on youtube and enjoyed it, what would you say is their best album?

Hm... depending on my mood but i am on the softer side, i guess. While speed is mostly ok... i don't like screaming/growling in my songs. But most important is the melody the FLOW of the music. I even enjoy a FEW melodic-death metal songs.

But overall i mostly like the classic-rock/beginning of metal phase.

Something like this is undeniabel epic:

Or something like the Metallica-phase of about 1990-1999 (I really like the S&M album for example) or awesome power-metal like THIS:

Or many other bands.

This is as heavy as I can go, and that still can give me a headache after a while.

I'm not really all that anal when it comes to genres. But I just hate it when Black and Death metal get mixed up. And they have a more Death than Black metal sound to them, even if they mix Black, Death, Industrial and Grindcore.
