The people who said "Years" don't own Wiis.
Bullshit. I mean, some of them might not, but is it that hard to believe? Is it just
too good not to touch?
Cut the sarcasm. Let's break it down like this. The Wii had officially completely launched world-wide in December of 2006, so lets just round that to the start of 2007. 80% of gamers in America alone own a single console. The Wii is the minority in the popularity department of hardcore gamers.
Now, we analyze the tendencies in which humans vote on polls and surveys with the following factors. People have a tendency to vote in polls even if some do not apply to them. Those that are neutral in the voting scheme, i.e. those that do not know or do not own said Wii, will still vote despite being about a console that they do not own. Therein, they vote for that which is closest to their current stance in the debate, which is the largest extended period of time in this case. Assuming that every person that voted on this specific thread of this GAMING website is in fact a hardcore gamer, we can determine these four possibilities: they only own a Wii and have literally not played it in years; they own more than one console; they owned a Wii in the past, but do not own one currently; they don't own a Wii.
The term "Years" was used in the poll option, not "A Year". The plural is obvious enough to the point where people would have a much greater probability to understand "Months" as a closer definition of a single year's time than something that represents multiple years. So, we put the minimum requirement of not touching the Wii for "Years" at at least two years, despite that an indefinite time-line described so generally is often interpreted by the brain as greater than 3 and bypassing the 1 being improbable and 2 being too few. Following that logic, we come to the conclusion that the required time-line is actually the beginning of 2007 up to (and I'm being lenient here) mid-way 2008, a period of 1.5 years.
Adding these factors together--the definition of "Years", the fact that the majority voting are hardcore gamers, the extreme rarity of owning only a Wii compared to those that own more than one console, the even rarer condition that they meet to not have been playing their console up until the narrow cut-off point between 07-08--all of which are solid
requirements in order to vote while
still telling the truth, these conditions are too many and far more rare than any other possibility. It is obvious to conclude that the probability of the extreme majority of the voters that voted in the "Years" option actually did not own the console in question far out-weighs the rare possibility that they fit the above requirements.
When you've take multiple classes in behavioral psychology, come back to me if you want to dispute this.
PS, I don't own a Wii.
