Lol, it was a system with good potential, it was just that Nintendo's simultaneous decision to appeal to the "non-gamer" crowd, and the inevitable alienation of it's core fanbase led to its ruin, although to be honest, it's difficult to say "ruin" when it is the best selling of the three current game systems. With Nintendo's recent "Revelation" about the need for good games (why this had to be a revelation is a mystery), and the current development of the WiiHD, as its called at the moment, we could see the return of Nintendo as a serious competitor to "hardcore" (I hate the term) gaming.
