Poll: How Long Will Humans Survive?

This is a question that has been pondered since the days of ancient Greece and beyond, how long will the human race survive?

I think we can last a very long time if we are at least a little lucky, assume we dont fuck ourselves up in the next 100 or so years we should be able to settle Mars and eventually discover how to travel at FTL speeds, so Im going to say either we fuck ourselves very soon, or we last a very long time.

We are pretty well off that only something world ending, like a comet, would end us. We are surprisingly too spread out for disease to take affect, and global warming isn't as scary as Al Gore tells us.

Though I wouldn't bet against a nuclear winter in case Ivan tries acting tough again.

Do you mean settle Mars in 100 years? Because I really doubt that. As far as space travel has been going it's kind of slowing down in progress. After the whole landing on the Moon bit there's not much more as far as colonising that's been going on, bar the ISS and what not. And keeping that up is a pretty tough job right now, so setting up a colony on Mars seems stupid for the time being. I mean can someone tell me how long it would take us to reach Mars at our current level of technology? I'm sure it's in the decades.

A more likely one would be a Moon colony, but even that seems unlikely to happen in the next century. We're more concerned with problems down here still. And Faster Than Light will never happen as far as most pyshicists are concerened. That's some sci-fi show stuff there.
