it seems ive been blessed, my ps2 is the only one of my consoles that is close to dying(as far as i know, havent played my genesis or snes in a while)
but to anyone who thinks that their console is dying: get your fun out of it now, then trade it in when your bored with it

but the strange thing is, my friend ran over his ps2 with an suv and it continued to work perfectly

I lost a PS2 a couple of years ago, because it fell of the top of my TV. My brother fixed it though. My 360 Red-Ringed as well (whos hasn't?). And it didn't so much die on me as my other brother took my Nintendo 64 apart. Then a few of my friends "borrowed" my N64 games. That was about 3 years ago.

None. 0. I guess I am lucky. I have owned consoles since the Atari 2600 too. The NES, SNES, Sega Master System, all the way up to my PS3. I have held off on getting a 360 for this very reason. I will not get a RRoD. I have heard that the Jasper (WT? Who came up with this lame ass name? I though Wii was bad...) takes care of this issue, but I shall see what happens in the long run.

If a PC counts as a console then one has died on my. Ironically it was the day that I decided to back up all of my files.

But I did have my launch PS2 die on me. Well, it didn't really die but the graphics chip in it went out so I could only watch movies and listen to music.

It's weird, because you can't even pin the blame on usage on the system, my friend still has his launch PS2 and used it a lot, I used my PS2 (it was about when GTA 3 came out that I got it) and his PS2 still runs, mine has long since gone, yet mine was treated a lot better. Some people have even pinned it on the way you pose it, up or down. I've got a slim PS2 now, I hope this one lasts because simply put I have a lot of great games for it.

I had my first original xbox die on me, and I might have had my saturn go bad on me, but I think that one was due to my friend accidently spilling chex pieces on it, and a piece got stuck in the memory card slot and ruined everything. Funny thing is my nephew still has the Saturn that I got 10 years ago or so and it runs clean as a whistle.

i just want to end the myth that buying the 360 elite makes you immune from the red ring of death, i fell for it, it doesnt, bought one and 4 months in it died while playing GTA San Andreas.

My 360 died once, but I had a working one a week later so I didn't really mind. My PS3 kept me busy :)

My PS2 had some glitch where it gave me that message to insert my controler despite it being already inserted. I tried everything, then I just bought a gaming PC and never looked back.

None. I guess I'm darn lucky I suppose, but I also do take care of my consoles pretty well. I recently bought an XBOX 360 Elite, let's see how long that lasts.

I've had to send my 360 in twice. Once for the RRoD, and once for the harddrive breaking on me and scratching my Halo 3 disc in the process.

I'm very lucky, apart from my old family PC (which is pretty much buggered anyway...), I've not had one die on me yet. However, I have had an Xbox 360 for almost three years and my friend had the RRoD a while ago, so I'm living in perpetual fear every time I turn it one that I'll get the RRoD myself at some point (note that anyone who is unaware of what RRoD means doesn't deserve to be on a gaming forum and should bugger off to 4chan now). It's especially annoying because I don't have Xbox Live (due to being unable to afford a router to connect it to the internet, being on a student budget and all), so I feel like I'm wasting the potential of the console itself...

I have lost an Sega Genesis, N64, and two PS2s, and an Xbox 360. Thanks for opening up old wounds by the way.

I had my old PS1 for ages and always had to turn it sideways to play discs properly. One day it fell, made a strange sound and died.
After collecting dust for around 5 years i tried to fix it. Only thing i had to do was put a piece of string around a battery to straighten it (MacGyver style)and now it works again, good as new! I love the PS1

PS2 died on me twice, always laser related

I can't believe some of the bad luck on this forum. I've got/had 2 Snes, A PS1, A PS2, A Ps3, A 360, A Wii, DS and a PSP. None have ever died on me. But my PS3 is starting to mimic a Boeing 747 taking off now.
