Ok, so this is a knee-jerk reaction to the war post. How many people here have been shot at by a live firearm? Let's see how this matches up to what people think of war

Well in that case, kids really shouldn't be brought on hunting trips. My unit just uses blanks when conducting STX lanes. Regardless you don't want to take one of those at close range.

Do mortar rounds, rockets, and RPG's count? I only ask because those typically aren't targeted at a specific individual, but I've almost been blown up by all of those things...

I've only shot a handgun twice in my life and that when I was a child.

I have never in my life shot a gun other than paint and pellet. Never plan to either.

By accident yes, at least, the apologetic man wielding the shotgun insisted he didn't know I was there. Even then 'at' is a very loose term as the shot landed a good thirty feet in front of me.

On purpose no (except paintballs, thousands of them), never been hit either. Incidentally I am not a fan of war.

Are you wondering more along the lines of how many Escapist members have actually experienced war?

War itself is a bit of a vague term, which is why I've avoided it in this poll. What I'm wondering is to what extent those who consider war nessecary or good have been in fear of thier lives from a firearm of some kind

I have actually not been shot at, because I don't hang out or live next to those kinds of people.
