I've played all the entries in the series except for Arena. It's a great series, and I'm very excited for Skyrim. It will likely be my game of the year... and maybe next year.

I haven't played Oblivion but I have it on my computer and I'm gonna play through it before Skyrim. I am pretty excited for Skyrim though.

I missed Arena and Daggerfall, played Morrowind quite a bit, played Oblivion to hell and back, and am now really excited for Skyrim.

Seven hundred saves since 2006. Fuck yes I've played Oblivion. Loving on what I've seen of Skyrim and that cloth map of the region is going above my bed.

I'm NOT excited for Skyrim because I played Oblivion. What a truly awful awful game.
Pretty much what I was going to say. I didn't think it was that awful, but it was enough of a letdown that I won't be buying another Bethesda game for a very long while.

Oblivion was AWESOME. Played it through it in like 2009 or something. And also did a recent playthrough(to celebrate the nearing release of Skyrim) until, like always, the game glitched all up on me and fucked up my save files(and I didn't even have any mods!).

Managed to work my way through both Morrowind and Oblivion. I liked Morrowind more, but it was a bit past its prime when I played it, and morroblivion wasnt complete yet, so i didnt spend as much time there as i would have liked, mostly just playing through the main story and cheating my fame so I could skip the part where you have to do all that running around for the tribes......I know, I'm bad.

I played it for about 30 hours on PC, then my darling computer just decided it wanted to have windows reinstalled on it and wipe everything else in the process. I was bitter after thatand only recently tried again on PS3, but I totally ignored the main quest and did KOTN and SI instead.

Gutting really, but I always found it awkward to play games on PC anyway. I have a thing with sitting at desks. I like to lay on my tummy and kick my legs around in the air, so I used to put my pc monitor at the end of the bed and play with a wireless keyboard and a mouse on a textbook. GOOD TIMES.

Played Morrowind and Oblivion, loved both of them, I expect at least twice the explorable content of those games.

I put "no" on your poll, but not because I didn't play Oblivion (I played around 1500 hours in it). I put "no" because with my divine magic I will smite you foul creatures who plague these lands and the good souls who reside here. I shall rend your murderous souls from your mortal frame and burn your bones so the breath of Kyne may spread your ashes across Nirn! Maybe then you'll finally do some good for this world...

'Actually played Oblivion'?

Why are making it sound like it was a niche title?

I'm pretty sure the vast majority of the people who will be playing Skyrim have played Oblivion.

I sunk more hours than I'd care to count into Oblivion and I regret none of it!

Though I am not actually all THAT hyped about Skyrim.

I started with Morrowind and eventually moved on to Oblivion. I'm almost afraid to look at the total amount of hours accumulated between both games. I love the both so much :p

Yes, I am VERY excited for Skyrim though. It looks like it will be well worth the $60, and about a year or so of my lifespan.

I played the hell out of Oblivion, and yet when I tried to start up another play through for Skyrim's sake, I just couldn't get into it. Funny that.
This. Played Oblivion to death, did the exact same thing as you, and I just couldn't do it. Still excited about Skyrim, it looks better than any previous Bethesda games.

*Insert the days, hours, and minutes left before Skyrim comes out here*

I was pretty 'meh' about Oblivion when I played it (though my opinion was changed to an arousing "mmmMMMMmmm!" when I modded that thing up with more testosterone than a shark-wrestling bodybuilder tank-gunner), and in the case of Skyrim, I'm still pretty 'meh'. After playing Oblivion and Fallout 3, Bethesda has earned a reputation of 'meh' in my book. Their games aren't bad, but they're lacking. Oblivion was a very pretty game, it was fun decorating houses with items and clutter picked up in the game world, and it was a pleasant fantasy environment--but the story grew stale once you had to close a dozen Oblivion gates, it was annoying being a warrior and having melee companions who would always run themselves right into your axe blade or whatever, The quests were enjoyable, but the landscape felt very copy/pasted after a few hours...and there were bugs here and there, and NPCs walking around in rooms staring at walls...guards knowing every little thing you did, enemies knowing exactly where you were at any given instant...just, little things that plague the game, breaking immersion every five seconds.

Same with Fallout 3; though it was an improvement in several areas, it had that same Oblivion feel do it, and every time I felt myself getting immersed, something would come along and bugger it up.

So Skyrim looks like Fallout 3: an improvement, but still having that immersion-breaking feel. I don't know what it is yet, but I just know that somewhere in the game, there's gonna be something that draws me out of the experience, whether it's sliding down surfaces too steep to climb, running down a flight of stairs and going flying off into the distance because gravity wants to have nothing to do with me actually walking down the stairs themselves and considers them launching platforms...

But maybe there'll be a mod with camera bob, first-person body and shadow, a climbing-over-ledges ability, and some improvement to movement; less instantaneous momentum, and somewhat more of a 'gathering speed' effect. The changes to conversation look great though--being able to converse in real time will be a welcome addition.

Ooo, hope your physique changes depending on your strength level or whatnot too.
