Well? Which one is it? Do you HAVE to have the game day 1, or do you wait until the price drops to buy it?

I buy a ton of games long after the fact so it's probably around 1/10th of what I buy that's bought on day one. However I also buy a lot more on day one than I should, given that it can sometimes take me months to even install/start playing them. But I like to have them sitting in front of me ready for when I suddenly get in the perfect mood to play them.

I expect to buy another five games or so later this year around day one of their release.

Only BioWare games. And The Witcher 2. And Skyrim. I pre-order only the best stuff normally, the rest I wait for. Human Revolution is next to look forward to!

I regret and lament paying full price for Crysis 2 on Day 1, not worth half that. Had BioShock on Day 1, Alpha Protocol (no regrets) and a handful of MMOs I played from closed/open beta thru release (Age of Conan, Guild Wars, STO, couple of others, can't remember).

Pretty much all my games I buy full price. If I think I'll like a game, I really don't have the patience to wait. Sometimes I pick up an older game that I missed when it came out, but mostly I stick to new releases.

I typically wait to get games until their prices have dropped. But, I have preordered one or two, so I'm going with 1/10.

It reall depends on my monetary standing. If I have lots of money to spend and if there is a good game coming out, I will gladly pay full price. This year i'm buying alot of games on day one because so many good games are coming (Skyrim, Deus Ex, Battlefield etc.) and i'm starting at a full time job September 1st, so i'm good

Only the ones that I think will be difficult to find in a year or two.
Ico Collection, Catherine, Demon's Souls Collectors Edition, Valkyria Chronicles, and Yakuza 3/4 are the games that I bought full price in the last 3 years.

So far, I've been right on VC, Demon's Souls and Yakuza 3. Demon's Souls not so much for the game, but for the walk-through book that comes with the collectors edition.

I never buy games at full price on day one. I tend to wait until the price has dropped and I use that time to see if the game is worth buying. If the general consensus is "game X is crap, wasn't worth £40" then I call a friend, see if they have a game and play a little bit of it to see if it is worth getting, or whether I should just save my money and get something else.

I rent so I hardly ever buy a game on day one as I usually prefer to test them out first.
Only one this year: Portal 2.

About half the games I played I bought on day 1. Usually only if they're really interesting or they are a sequel to a game I've bought long after release that I've enjoyed.

I hate buying full price. I avoid it if I can, but I usually end up getting around 4-5 games a year at full price, but this year I have already bought too many and will probably end up getting another 2-4 games this year at full price cause too much good stuff comes out in november. My wallet really hates me.

Mass Effect has always been an exception and so will Skyrim, the rest I have and will continue to wait out.

Every now and then with things like RDR, Halo Reach, and some first-party Nintendo games.

For everything else, I just use Gamefly.

Only games that I think look exceptionally interesting... so not very often... not since Dragon Age 2 and even that was because my brother split the price with me...
