I'm just curious how many have played for at least a full 10 trial in the last year or two.

*edit - for those of you who don't know, DDO = Dungeons and Dragons Online *

Nice. It's been about that for hubby and I, though we did have quite a long absence that we just returned from about 2 months ago.

By the way, nice to see you here doctorwhofan. ;)

Excuse my ignorance, but what is DDO?
Not ignorance just lack of information. :)
DDO is Dungeons and Dragons Online. It's a MMORPG that is very different from the other MMOs out there. It's based on the old paper and pencil game of Dungeons and Dragons.

Heard about it ages ago (in PC Gamer) but never bothered to play it seeing as I play WoW & one MMO is enough for me.

I downloaded the trial moments ago. It's late though, so I'll probably activate and start playing tomorrow.

Be looking for a fresh-faced gnome bard tomorrow morning, folks.

That's cool. I tried WOW but it just wasn't the same. I didn't see any voice chat capability, though I could be wrong there and just didn't know it, and the combat system was too slow for me. The controls and buttons so different as well. I don't mean to say that there is anything wrong with WOW because honestly I probably just didn't understand it well enough and only grouped with one other person who seemed new as well. So back to DDO I went lol. But I get your point entirely. Only have time and money for ONE MMO. :) Happy gaming.

Hope to see you on Argo :) look for any Shy character in the Boondockers guild and say hello. Of course if you are on a free trial you won't be able to send anything yet.. hmmm..
ah well if you can find me, I'll be glad to help you out a bit.

They recently added voice chat capabilities, but it's still no good compared to ventrilo or teamspeak. I see exactly what you mean about it being pretty different, I tried out Guild Wars at a friends house and it felt so... alien :p.
I suppose I've just become far too used to the WoW UI, which is only getting improved in the newest patch, although most people (including myself) spice it up with a bunch of mods anyway ;).

I played a trial years ago, but I'm quickly regaining interest.
That's why I included in my topic within the last 2 years because many many MANY things have changed. There is so much more to DDO now then there was years ago that trying it now is more like trying out a brand new game because it's a whole new experience.

What has changed in two years? Crafting (to a degree) has been added. Cap to 16 (about to go to 20), several large Mods have been added along with explorer areas to match. Monks. No Marketplace Tent. Three Barrel Cove has been drastically altered. There's more but I am too tired to care.

Oh heavens yes. Before we left for our little unintentioned absence a LOT of this wasn't there. But the worst was the Marketplace tent. I came into the market ready to shop for a new toon I decided to run to get reaquainted with the game and FREAKED out. I wrote in general chat "where the heck is the marketplace tent.... OMG where do I shop" and fortunately got a few tells with directions to go to the nail for shopping. It was hillarious. My husband was laughing his butt off at me because of my vocal explatives on the subject. lol

Good for you for trying it Gormourn. Sorry you aren't going to be staying though. However the good news is that you will always have the choice to come back and pay for the acct and play those toons you are currently working on. They stay! So maybe someday you'll feel like rejoining us and hanging out for a bit.

***warning*** Once you play DDO for a month there is a 95% chance of becoming severely addicted ***end warning***

DDO has kept my attention for over two years and I am still thoroughly enjoying it. I am looking forward to meeting some of our new players. All the servers are great. My home server is Sarlona. There are some great guilds there.
