For me there comes a time in every Bethesda RPG that doesn't have a morality system where any NPC that bothers me dies in their sleep, or at least right after being rudely awoken.

Nope and my guy is a stone cold killer. A imperial who only joined the rebellion because he thought there would be more challenge in fighting the Empire. He cares not about the gods or whatever Justification the Nords have for their war. All he cares about is his next victim, and next taste for blood!!

Though I don't kill NPCs in towns in less theres a quest involved. I'll rob them for sure, but mindless murder? Pssh if theres no profit in it why bother?

I just ignore him.
He's trying to be a dedicated Talos worshiper, yet he opposes the empire Talos founded. That's silly.
The empire abandoned its founder and outlawed his worship! How can they lay claim to the throne of the empire when they refuse to acknowledge he who founded it? Would Talos have seen his beautiful empire, united under his rule split and at war with itself? Would he allow elves to dictate the fate of men? Surely Ulfric Stormcloak is closer to the intentions of Talos then those false emperors.

I've only killed him on my assassin character who had a burning hatred for Nords. She left her calling card, a blue mountain flower (or whatever those things are called) on his corpse and stuck his decapitated head between his legs. The guards are still looking for her with no success.

With every other character, I just run past him as fast as possible.

I tried a few times but always restored the quick save shortly after. I even found a spot, up toward the Jarl's palace where I can launch an arrow without being spotted by the guards (off the side of the stairs, on the rocks near the falls) and nailed a perfect long shot. I went down and took in his body, lying forlornly and unmourned, then restored.

The next time I was in Whiterun at night, I went into the house, turned into a werewolf, mauled him and left.

This is the coolest way to get him I've seen, though this isn't the best video of it:
Holy crap that was an awesome shot!

I'm not an agent of the Thalmor, so I have no reason to kill a worshiper of Talos.

I support the worship of Nine Divines.

I usually don't kill people unless I have good reason to, and even then I might consider alternative options.
Though it is true, I have sometimes killed innocent people when caught doing something illegal.

Turned into werewolf, ate his heart. Noone saw me turn, so no bounty - technically, that's sneaky.
Then ran from Whiterun to the Northern Sea.

Wait! they moved again!
Stop it!
I demand an explanation.
I had meant to quote xefaros from page 1... that avatar creeps me out, 'cause it always seems to move whenever I scroll or mouse.

I did it sneakily but I made sure to don Elven armour incase I was spotted. My characters morality was ambiguous at best so I figured killing him would serve a greater purpose of inciting more anger towards the Thalmor. I figured the preacher would be happy I was doing the work of Talos.

I saved, killed him a few times and then loaded the save and continued on with my journeys. Felt good.

I killed everyone in the town because I could, and I realized how noisy he was so when I loaded up my normal save after my rampage I sneakily killed him and the town seems so much nicer.

My first character did. Since then I've started to like the guy. That much excess ham, it's amazing.

Plus, Heimskr soundboards gave us this:

Because:
Unlike real world proselytizing his god actually exists.
Unlike real world Christianity his system of belief is actively being suppressed by the government.
He is standing up for Talos, he who founded the Empire... and the Empire is trying to silence that worship due to terribly unjust treaty by those damn elves.

Personally I didn't kill him in any of my playthroughs, however I did steal from him while playing as my thief character of course. That 7 gold I acquired was definitely worth the time and effort.
