I love anime and have watched hundreds of series the last decade. I am a bit tired of it now. The main reason is the repetition of the same old cliches every year. I hate how most of the anime nowadays panders to pedophile pantysniffing otaku in Japan; which means a lot of panties, naked boobs, boobgrabbing, highschool festivals, beach episodes, useless charactertypes that are used ad nauseum (like the spectacled shy girl, the homely and loving childhood friend, the athletic and hyper-active girl, the girl in miko dress and of course the tsundere love interest who loves the main character but cannot even talk like a normal person to him. )

I like it but haven't watched much of it.

I have watched HSOTD and Gurren Lagann and liked both. I intend to watch Trigun next as Cowboy Bebop wasn't great for the first 2-3 episodes.
Fear not! FLEAMAN has come to save you from a regrettable decision!

Episode 5 is when the series goes from worthwhile to very good.

Here it is in Youtube format, mirrored to evade copyright crusaders.

Not that you shouldn't watch Trigun. You should. But Bebop is intense greatness.

When it's good it's really enjoyable.
When it's bad... let's not discuss it, eh?

What do you think my answer is?
I recently finished Spice and Wolf myself, and found myself as I was watching, quite literally burning with love.

I only evr watched one Anime Dragon Ball, (and Dragonball Z) but most anime fans bash me over the head with "That isn't real/proper anime!!!) O something along those lines.

And I never saw the appeal for any other, and don't feel I have the time for it To be honest.

I don't there isn't much I've found I like, but dismissing every piece of animated work from a nation/region is just lazy or elitist considering how many wind up sounding like the same literary critics that said that Sci-fi and fantasy are nothing more than trash literature.
Good man...

Most anime shows are aimed at children and pre-teens so I can't say I hate it when I'm not even in the intended demographic.
... good grief, what have you been watching?! If you think Hourou Musuko, Ergo Proxy, Paranoia Agent, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 and Serial Experiments Lain are directed at pre-teen kids, then the producers have really high expectations...(!) Besides, you could say the same thing of the entire animated medium as a whole.

I admit that there are fucking shedloads of series out there that cater to kids and pre-teens but there is a wealth of seinen that puts paid to your use of the word 'most'. Not having a go, just clearing up a misconception. Plus, considering how much fan service of the boobies variety exists, there's a whole load of issues where that comes from...

OT: Anime is like any other medium, there is a certain portion of it which I like, a small bit that I love, even... and a lot of which I have either a dislike of or lack of opinion about, and I hate the rest.

So, personally, I like the medium and its potential (however unexploited I think it is), but I hate many of the shows, I hate many of the tropes that have spawned from anime and most of all, I hate the 'fans'. Those weeaboo dumbfucks who won't hear a word of criticism against a particular show or a particular character.

I..used to be all about the animu, but now, a couple years later, I'm just kinda...
"Meh."
About it. I just ignore it, it goes under my radar, and I feel no urge to watch it.
I think it may've been one or more of the following that got to me:
- Repetitive, cliché dialogue ("I'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU BLAH BLAH BLAH HURT THE PERSON I LOVE BLAH BLAH BLAH")
- Repetitive, cliché characters
- Repetitive, cliché plots and stories with absurd, nonsensical, batfuck insane twists
- Repetitive, cliché jokes (Oh the irony /very much aware of the hypocrisy).

I'm not completely sure, but it's my best guess.

I don't cosider it as a whole universally good or universally bad, there were good ones, there were bad ones as well.

Highschool of the Dead was the last one I followed, and after that, almost no one caught my eye, so I'm not with the latest, nor I feel like I have to.

I heard the new Hellsing OVA is out, but beyond that, I don't think of following some of them just because they're anime.

I don't particularly rate Anime any differently then I do western Drama Serials, Sci-Fi or Fantasy. Some is good, a lot is shit... it's case by case and entirely subjective.

The question been posed is similar to "Do you like or dislike this genre" but it's even grander then that as it's more culturally rooted then genres, which are socially rooted.

I have seen enough tripe in all mediums to safely say that none of them are "my kinda thing" but I will keep watching/reading/playing/listening in hopes that I catch the rare piece that does interest me... the rest is passing fancies, forgettable brain trash and nights in/out with friends/partners.

So do I like Anime... I suppose, but that's about as bad a generalisation as hating everything too.

EDIT: Just to try and clarify my point: I find it hard to believe that someone cannot at least like one of the following:

Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbour Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies, The Girl who leapt through time, Macross, Blood, Ninja Scroll, Cowboy Bebop, Bunny Drop, Panty Stocking and Garter-belt, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, Naruto, Bleach, One-piece, Dragon ball, Speed Grapher, Death-Note, Fullmetal Alchemist etc.

Unless they are totally opposed to animation or have an aversion to Japanese culture and film.

I can't stand the art style.

I think that pretty much throws your accusations in the water.

Seen the style of five? Seen 'em all by definition.

Assuming you define 'anime' by art style, that is.

I like some of them like the Gundam series (everything but Seed and Seed Destiny)
but I hate stuff like Naruto (overrated weeabo shit) and Hetalia (HISTORY DOESN'T WORK THAT WAY!)
I,m currently watching Initial D (just don,t watch the dub it,s made in such a way that it tries to appeal to the Fast and Furious crowd)

I didn't like anime when I was younger, but that was mostly a knee-jerk reaction to the overly obsessive infatuation people around me had with it.

I got into it simply because I like animation as a medium, but with few exceptions it's primarily treated as a vehicle for children's content in the West.

I haven't watched much of it since the animation style doesn't take my fancy. Western stuff's usually more smooth. Though I don't even watch that these days.
Don't really have much against it, just been too lazy or too busy doing other things to ever try any anime.

I'm not counting things I watched when I was a wee lad, like Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon because back then I adored anything as long as it was shown on Cartoon Network.

I'm not usually too fond anime, or any Asian-styled shows for that matter; but I did like Naruto a bit...

Well I used to like it( It started when rurouni Kenshin was on TV).

But lately every anime I watch either has too much "fanservice" ( aka echhi or pantyshots) or too much "moe" crap.

This the main reason why I have never said out loud that I (have) liked anime.

So I'm not so sure what my opinion is, since I still watch a lot of abridged series.
