I have a original release box never had a problem with it. My brothers RROD'd but MS replaced that in about 2 weeks no questions asked. I think mine has self healing powers as it wouldnt read disc for about a month but now it reads even my old scratched Ninja gaiden black disc :)

Same here...1st and only 360. Then again, haven't been using it constantly like most of the people that get those problems.

Im on my 6th one now. My first one lasted a little over a year, the second about 6 months. After that i went thru 3 between july 1st and august 7th. 2 RROD's and the the last on would freeze 30 seconds after i turned it on with a bunch o little white dots all over the screen. But they were "fixed" ones i got thru in-store warranty. So this time i got a brand new one and its been workin for 2 weeks, lookin good so far, lol.

Depends on how you look at it. My first one got RROD, and while I was waiting for them to send me a new one I said "fuck it" and bought an Elite, then when my replacement arrived I swapped it for an older one with a buddy so that he had a newer one* and I could just sell his old one. Then my Elite got the RROD, and I'm now on my second shiny black system. So while I voted 3, it could just as easily be counted as 5.

*Funny story about this, I switched with him because we figured the newer console would last longer then his old one. Not two weeks after the swap, the new one got RROD. Apparently the customer service lady that he talked to on the phone thought it was a little fishy that he was sending in a 360 that was supposed to belong to me. He somehow avoided theft charges by telling her that I had cancer and was giving all my shit away. Thank God for Microsoft tech support people that just don't care about anything.

On my first...It's a Halo Edition. I did have a scare where it wouldn't read any disk, game, cd or dvd, But I stood it vertical and it started working, and now it's horizontal again and works fine....but's that's for another poll :)

It happened to me once but I didn't send it in for repairs. The RROD showed its head for a brief moment until curiosity set in as I unplugged the power chord only to replug it and find out that the console worked as well as it did since I first got it (about a week before the RROD incident).

I've had the original Xbox 360 I bought around June last year, though I have had to send it in for eating my disks. No problems now though.

Edit:

I think the new ones have a better proccessor so there's less RROD's, but let's see, 33% failure rate, obviously, the other 67% has only had one...right?

Find out how many people own 360's and then do the math and you've got your answer.
I believe that Microsoft replaced the old motherboard used in the Xbox 360 with a newer model. It consumes less power, so it has less of a chance in... melting, for lack of a better word, so less cases of RROD.

They started using the new motherboard on the Elites, and now, I believe, it's on any 360 console that has a HDMI port (so, all of the new ones).

Does that include the Arcade Edition? Because that's what I have.

I don't have one, but my friend had to send his in because it was eating his discs up. Now he's pissed and mumbling about how it's a piece of crap (he does that sometimes) and how he should have bought a PS3 because "it doesn't EAT UP YOUR DISKS!". It's funny seeing him angry though :D

i'm not knocking you guys, you definitely got to play some great games despite your suffering but i couldn't imagine dealing with this issue and then to have this looming sense of danger whenever i booted up my system.

i saw too many debug units fail in testing to seriously consider buying the thing.

My disc drive broke... It was constantly getting the command to eject or something. We sent it in and they gave us a new one, I don't like it as much though. Couldn't tell you why.

I'm still on my first xbox, never had a problem. However my girlfriend's little brother just got an Xbox 2 months ago and it got the RROD. I laughed. Alot.

from my understanding, the RRoD epidemic is basically over for new 360s.. it can still happen, but microsoft has fixed the main problems.

and a lot of the RRoD's occured because people were trying NOT to get RRoDs, so they'd strap coolers and superfluous fans onto their system, causing it to overheat more rather then less, leading to an RRoD

my 360 is relatively new, and I have had one crash on it. no RR's at all.

Still on my first one. Shocking enough, it is a launch console and is still going strong. :x
