Well after over 2 years of basically stalking the forum threads here (yeah I like to listen more than I talk)I thought I should finally move my post count from 0.

The amount people sleep on average has been on my mind recently, as gradually the time I feel the need to get my head down has moved from about 11:45pm to 12:30am. I get up at 7:30am for work, so I average 6 1/2 - 7 hours sleep normally, which science is telling me is not enough.

So how much sleep do you think you get? My average includes working days and weekends (the latter of which I normally sleep from 2am to 9am) based on a normal week.

Welcome to the Escapist Talaris, glad to see you have an avatar already. Just remember to stay out of the basement and to not press the red button and you should do just fine :)

OT: I'm a lazy university student, so usually about 9 or 10 hours, though it varies a lot from day to day.

It's 4AM and I've yet to sleep, so...

This is irregular, though. Usually I get 7-8. Just have a really weird sleep schedule right now.

Hate to say it but I've failed on both counts numerous times...yeah I suck at resisting temptation.

I try to get 8 hours a night, but I only rarely succeed. Generally on weekdays I go to bed between 22:30 and 23:00, but then I still lay awake reading for at least 30 more minutes. My get out of bed at 6:00. On the weekend I tend to go to bed around 2:00 and get up between 10:00 and 11:00. So I get a few extra hours per week.

As of this semester, around 1am to 5am. I go to bed at 11pm but usually can't shut my mind off till 1-ish. Used to be good on 2-3 hours but that was a long. long time ago. (4 months lol)

Usually around 6-7 hours. In bed at around 2230, 2300 and up at 0600. It's all I really need at night but I find myself also needing a nap during the day.

Eh... usually on weekdays I'll get to sleep around 1am and wake up at 7am for work.

But at the weekends, I'll often get a couple hours' kip in the afternoons (Sundays mostly) as well, though I do stay up until 3am a lot of Fridays/Saturdays.

Around 6-8 hours. These days my work schedule is getting to work at 9.00 meaning I have to wake up at 7.50 (half an hour to have breakfast and get ready to go). That had pretty much embeded into my head since I still wake up around at that time during my days off or working later in the afternoon (can't fall back to sleep straight away).

Way too much at the moment, around 10 hours a day. I'm going to bed too late and getting up too late, and finding it hard to break that cycle. Luckily it's the Christmas Holidays, so it matters not.

But when the time comes that I actually have to get up for something, it's not going to be pretty...

About 4 or 5 hours a night.

I don't tend to sleep much before i'm awake and bouncing round the house again.

Not enough and way too much at the same time.

To clarify, I get what should theoretically be enough sleep. But I never seem to sleep deeply enough to not feel tired when I wake up, so I end up spending half my day in bed.

I need about nine, but I am still operational on four.
But after a few days of only four hours sleep, I can see that my health deteriorates quickly.
I have a swollen right eye as I speak. the whites of my eyes are totally swollen and gooey and it looks and feels gross

On most nights, I make sure I sleep at least 8 hours,
I have to go to work early in the mornings and I don't want to feel half dead when I get there.
Sometimes I'll get caught up doing something and end up with 6 or 7 hours instead.
I love sleep too much to run on below 5 hours.

Around 9 hours... to bed before 11, up at 7 for work. Weekends usually between 9 and 10 hours. If I don't get at least 8, I feel it.

6 or 7 normally, not great but a lot better than the 5 i had been getting. I've been trying to get to bed earlier and wake up earlier, and i'm having some success at the second part.

Anywhere between 7 to 10 hours, usually. I tend to go to bed around 2am most nights (well, mornings) and wake up between 9 and 12 most days. I used to sleep relatively little but since getting to uni I've slowly shifted more and more to becoming like a koala. I'm pretty sure by next year I'll simply be hibernating for the winter months.
