Either about 100 ?, or 50 ? if I find them on sale. At least 50 ?, usually.

Nike Mandara

My Nike AF1 (25th anniversary Paris/France edition) cost about 100 ? couple years back, and they are still comfortable and unbroken.

I personally don't see the point of wasting the 20 ? on shoes that break after couple months, chafe your feet and don't look good. Proper shoes are a good investment.

Currently wearing my Mephistos, about $250 for some of the most comfortable dress/walking shoes available. Ridiculously expensive but they come with a lifetime warranty, they get damaged in any way and I can send them back to the factory for free repair.

I've got two pairs of All Stars, marine blue and black high tops, ?65 each, one pair of neater looking work shoes costing ?80 and one pair of worn sports shoes. I try to not go above ?100 and I'm managing pretty well.

I usually wear boots, because if I am dealing with chemicals I want my feet to be protected. I have two pairs of Timberland boots, I got one pair for £12.50 from a store that was closing down (they were the display pair and the only problem was that they were bleached by the sun)and I have had those for about 4 years and the other pair that I got recently were £40, in the sale (they counted as juniors. I have quite small feet. i don't like spending that much money on boots or shoes, I wouldn't consider spending more than £40 anyway.

As a woman, I own quite a few pairs of shoes in a variety of styles.

For flat pumps, I wouldn't break £30. My most expensive pumps are Iron Fist ones, and they were £25.
For trainers, I'll pay up to £70 for a pair of Vans, because I know they'll last me ages. My current ones were £45 or so in a sale 5 years ago, and they're still going strong.
For heels, it depends on the brand, but most of mine are Irregular Choice or Iron Fist (so I'm paying for very elaborate styles), which are generally £70 or less. My husband bought me some platform heels for Christmas, and they were £60.
For boots, I've got some cheap-ass ones which were £25, but I'd consider going up to £90 for a really good pair. I'm currently lusting after some Iron Fist ones for £85.

What I don't get, is people that shell out hundreds of pounds on plain, boring, strappy shoes, just because they're Christian Louboutin or Jimmy Choo. If I'm splashing out on shoes, I expect them to have an exciting design.

£40 I think they were, but I'll wear them until they fall apart. Previous pair lasted ages, but these current ones aren't very good though, and are already failing me..

I have $12 sandals.
I also have $330 custom made boots.

As for why?
Because I can.
And those boots weren't just sleek and stylish, they lasted 6 years.

for instance this is the kind of thing I'm talking about when I'm talking about vanity.

Very expensive shoes, but i wouldnt call anybody vain for spending more money (of course 900 EUR is over the top for most people) on their shoes. In a lot of cases there is a huge difference if your buying shoes at your local mall or a specialized shoe-store/maker (not talking about sneakers and the like). It's the same with suits, where there is a huge difference between a decent tailormade one and the one a youngster buys for their provincal backwater prom...

About £5, if I remember rightly. Why? Because my local shoe shop is stupidly cheap. They've lasted long over 4 years though, so I'm not complaining.

I'm actually wearing boots that pass the office's dress code while still keeping snow/water out. The list price was $130 but the store was having a clearance sale so I got them for $80.

I think the most I've ever paid was $120, for a pair of dress shoes for my brother's wedding and some formal events later. They were nice shoes, though; comfortable and cool as well as sharp-looking.

I got mine, which look almost identical, for £10($16).

That was cheap though, at size 13UK(14US) - I'm usually looking at £40($64) and trainers/slippers are incredibly sparse.

I always buy the cheapest shoes as possible (although I may pay more of all the cheapest shoes look ugly). The last shoes I had bought was only £20 (No idea what that in $) since it was on sale on Boxing Day. I would never buy shoes that cost £100 since I think that is way too much for something that going to be worn out when you wear them all of the time.
