this is really just to gauge the kind of people that fuel this community. its also a bit of fun hehe.

edit: halo was just an example. you could throw any game in there you want.
edit: i wont change the actual poll but sorry if i got people riled up about the fact i used nerd instead of geek. as they say "my bad" hehe, i can actually tell the difference. lets just pretend its whichever you prefer haha
edit: if you want to do another test feel free to use http://www.innergeek.us/geek-test.html , but promise you will come back here and tell me what you got :p (i got about 32% lol)

I am pretty nerdy, I've tried everything from D&D to Magic the Gathering to Warhammer 40,000 and Star Trek and more anime shows than you could name. Oh, and I own the original Battlestar Galactica series from the 70s on DVD, as well as an original 512 MB iPod Shuffle. I also own anime figures and signed Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman books, in one case Good Omens which they both collaborated on which is signed by both of them.

I also paid to see Star Wars Episode 1 and when I saw it as a kid I LOVED Jar Jar Binks.

compared to this guy, i shouldn't be allowed to be in here. yeah i love games and have most of my life, also like some of the star wars movies. i talk about games sometimes, but i try to keep my gaming life and social life apart unless i have friends over or am playing online. i have a couple of friends that games as well but mostly dont. oh and im going to see watchmen tomorrow.

also on my XBL gamer profile i put gaming style as "recreational" because i belive gaming is not about winning but about relaxing and having fun.

I'd say I'm almost a nerd. I like to play games and talk about them but my knowledge compared to some of my mates is pretty limited, even though I have played games my whole life I still have a good social life, so I like to think ayway lol

You can put it into two groups. People who know what watchmen is all about and people who don't.

What about people like me who know what Watchmen is about, but haven't read it or seen the film yet? (A friend of mine offered to lend it me a few years ago, I turned it down. How I regret that now...)

I'm pretty nerdy, but I'm not yet at the point where I try to deny my nerdiness.

Oh yeah? I'll show you for the usurper you are!

I got a comment from Leigh Alexander of SexyVideoGameLand blog which said that my blog wasn't irrelevant.

Four of my entries to Screen Play Blog at the Sydney Morning Herald's Your Turn competition were published on the site's Screen Play Blog, one of which was the winner of the PS3 being given away. How did I win it? I did an article on my attending the Game On exhibition at the State Library of Queensland (an interactive exhibition of the history of video gaming) which I based part of the style on the Nixon Obituary by Hunter S. Thompson. Then I wrote part of the article on my Windows 2000 operating system laptop, and another part which took me two days locked in my room typing it and editing IN A WORD DOCUMENT before I submitted it by email. The article was called "(Not Exactly) Fear and Loathing in Brisbane".

I once had a money lending finance scheme set up in early high school where I lent money to my friends and charging interest so I could afford to buy Warhammer 40,000 models.

I own a Game Boy Colour with Metal Gear Solid for it, as well as an original GBA with the sideways screen which was darker than Mad Max 2. I have the original Advance Wars, Golden Sun, and Metroid Fusion, as well as the very valuable Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town.

I own three Happy Tree Friends DVD seasons.

I was considering buying the Thunderbirds series. On BLU-RAY.

I talked to John Safran, of ABC and SBS Television fame, about Osamu Tezuka's Buddha on his radio show (Sunday Night Safran, which is about Religion and Politics). I then sent the podcast to my blogger buddies. They approved and thought I did Tezuka justice. To arrange this, I had to link Safran's site on my blog criticising the show because he spent too many episodes talking to conspiracy theorists and hadn't mentioned Tezuka's Buddha or anything to do with Buddhism for a while. After John Safran's producer got hold of my nerdly rage post he gave me his phone number to organise a spot for me on the show, since I was the only Tezuka expert they had access to.

I play magic the gathering.( I actually start applying statistics to it. ) I've won 4 olympiads in my life ( 2 Gold Physics at national level. 1 bronze informatics. 1 bronze Life science which is basically biology )
Pretty much a straight A student in school. And i do trigonometry and programming for fun.( Like seriously i'd put on music and just do some international level programming past year questions )

I'd give up a room full of hot girls to play l4d or COH ( company of heroes ). Unless said room of hot girls consist of summer glau in which case i'll get everyone to leave except for her and then stare at her in awkward silence for like an hour because i'll probably be too shy to talk to her =P

Oh and i understand about 90% of xkcd comics. ( 10% being mostly pop culture references )
/elitism
/epeen stroke

Edit: So i guess i'm an academia nerd.
