Well the majority of people online switch automatically to 'I'm going to call you a dickhead' mode as soon as you say anything to them.
Well then maybe you are the dickhead! J/K I couldn't resist though.

I turn mic volume to mut so I can't hear other players. Hence I think that attacking games like CoD for having whiney kids of it is a bit of a lame argument anyway.

I'm assuming you're talking about communication in general and not whatever the person does in-game.

League of Legends: 40-80 percent of my games, depending whether we are losing or not.

CoD: BLOPs for PC: Not that much actually, being CoD and all and being notorious for having a terrible community. You still see dickheads every now and then, but people tend to stay quiet.

Bad Company 2 (Vanilla and Vietnam): 20-50 percent of my games. Depends on your perspective of "annoying" though, because I would sound like one too if half my team were recon, sitting on a rock and trying to get as many headshots as possible, resulting in those people trying to get the team to actually do the objectives.

Starcraft 2: Depends on gamemode, for normal Starcraft 2 (1v1s), people aren't usually very vocal and will either say nothing or "gg". For any type of team games, people are a bit more vocal, but still not many annoying people.

Half Life 2 Multiplayer Mods: Depends on the communities and what type of mod, if the community is small enough where everyone knows each other, they tend to be a bit more welcoming and nicer overall, although there are exceptions.

Assassin Creed: Brotherhood: No one talks, so I can't really say much.

40-80% in LoL? Ouch, what level of ELO hell are you in? I suppose I've just gotten lucky, but it just doesn't seem that prevalent to me. One thing that really bothers me though are people who start flaming you for saving "gl hf" in the beginning of the game. Flaming someone for wishing you luck and hoping you'll have fun is pretty low.

Thanks! But you all get what I mean though, right? It seems that because you're not actually talking to people face to face they have a right to say all sorts of stuff. My ears aren't garbage bins for your filthy words.

However annoying a person is to one person may be amusing to some-one else, most likely you're of the right frame of mind to be friends with the very people who annoy others and more so likely you've probably annoyed people yourself.

Its really more a case of how many people do you conflict with and how many people do you get along with. Unfortunately I conflict a hell of a lot more than I get along with people.

I don't Run into that many "annoying" people, most of the time I just don't use my mic and listen to the very common very strange XBL conversations.

ME personally?

Not often. I play on outdated games (my big online game to play with firends is CoD4:MW1) because I dont want to meet those people. I'm not going ot have my experience ruined because some dick wants to spam a quick scope or launch a cheap grenade to the face.

Yeah, that sounds like whining, but really in all honestly my friends and I enjoy the quiet servers of old more. We still play new games on new servers and meet people we like to include on our fun, but mostly we just decide to avoid the headache.

For one patch of black ops I think they accidentally disabled the ability to mute people in the lobby. I couldn't even disable people outright 'cause I was playing with my brother. The other players must've known it was disabled too because there was a strangely large amount of people bragging about spending last night with my mother. Anonymity is so destructive.

I usually don't play online multiplayer modes on games (or just online multiplayer games) so I don't really see many people online on games at all. Additionally, I'm usually lucky enough to end up in games/matches where people using mics is uncommon.

Just don't talk to them until after you win. By a factor of 5.
Then teabag the hell out of them until they quit the game permanently.

Usually 3 out of 8 games will have that one guy that just won't shut his mouth, or if it doesn't have that guy it'll have the other guy that is just a dick, and if doesn't have him it'll have these two guys that are friends and just insult everyone else.
Nah I'm just kidding but I don't go a day without meeting an asshole online.

I play a free-to-play FPS and find annoying people quite a lot. From dicks who blow up mines to racists.

Not that often though, not sure how to word >.>

On Xbox Live, I normally mute everyone unless I have some friends that are also in gamechat.

As for WoW, I can't stand the majority of people I come into contact with on the battlegrounds or in dungeons, I also dont like random people around me inviting me to groups without asking me first.

Is it just me that seems to always get either one guy playing music down his / her mic, or a foreign player CONTANTLY rambling to no one, or just saying really quick things every couple of seconds no one understands? If their were two say, Korean players talking to each other, maybe I'd understand them talking if not like the distracting poor mic quality and rambling, but it's always one guy and he's just ranting to no one... OR PLAYING MUSIC. D:
Hahaha. Every time I play MAG, this is always happening. I think the Hispanic guy is talking to his wife or somebody though. The quiet music is slightly less annoying. The worse is someone's mic right next to their speakers. This annoying repeat delay gives me the worst headaches.

Rarely, to be honest.

And I played CoD and Halo on 360.

The number of annoying people is GREATLY exaggerated. I filled my friends list with people from those games.

The assholes mostly stay in party chat these days.
I agree. While there are still slight annoyances, the amount of assholes has seemed to seriously dwindle over the past couple of years. Also with ignore features that most games seem to feature, it's very easy to block out the occasional dimwit.
