I'm usually pretty good about mashing through the story on those rare occasions where I play a story-based kind of game.

But as a general rule, city-builders and tycoon games don't have endings or stories.
On that note I'm going to pop rollar coaster tycoon into my computer and go build myself a theme park.

I always try to finish them, otherwise I always end up thinking about it non-stop. Very few times have I left a game mid-level. Of course, if I pick a game and deem it unplayable, I leave it at the very beginning, so that doesn't count as an unfinished game, right?

If i started a game and passed the hour or so of play, i don't allow myself to uninstall it or even get other games until i finish. It's some wierd kind of respect for the developers, I say wierd because i mostly pirate games so there's that too.
Think of it as a person that wouldn't stand up and just go from a movie, even if it sucks.

I have this weird tendency to think "Even if this game is long or if it sucks, i want to get my moneys worth"

Unless I seriously despise it, I will finish the game. I feel like it is very important to me to get my money's worth, especially nowadays as a 'poor college student'

Sometimes. About 40%.

I don't mean absolutley 100% mega completed. I mean complete what exactly matters. So no flying rats in GTA IV.

I generally beat every story in games I own (The exception being Fable 2, in that my dad stole my copy of the game while I moved out, the prick...) and I try to go for 100% completion unless it involves finding a gajillion different pickups that you have no way of finding without a walkthrough. Granted, there are some games where I will pick up a guide AFTER I've beaten the story and decide to play through again (Star Ocean: The Last Hope) to get all the goodies, and then there's Assassin's Creed 2, which I borrowed from a friend 3 days ago and haven't stopped playing except to sleep...

I always give every game I buy a good shot, a solid attempt at finishing it.
Some games, sure, their so bad I just can't bring myself to do it. But with a little research before I buy, this is a rare occurrence.

I don't finish crappy games.

Evil Genius, I'm looking at you!

...

Actually, I lied. Most of the time I finish crappy games too.

I always finish my games, with a single exception... Condemned 2. I gave up on the game once I could shout at the enemies.

There are only 3 games that I have never finished that my friends haven't brought over for a one time thing:

Pokemon Colosseum. I got stuck REPEATEDLY on Battle Tower (or whatever it's called), regardless of how many times I tried and how much I grinded. Yet I blew through XD Gale of Darkness without a sweat.
Too Human. Do I REALLY need to say? This thing was fuck-you served on a cast-iron platter gilded with middle fingers.
Final Fantasy XII. Which killed any interest I could have had for the entire genre. Grind is not my friend.

Other than that, I finish my games.

Most of the time, I do pretty much everything possible story and content wise. I only give up if the game is broken and buggy. In that case, it just isn't worth the frustration to try to finish it.

I almost always finish games.

Looking at my PS3 collection right now I have 20 games.

4 are unbeaten. One of those 4 I just got five minutes ago so that one is exempt.

The other 3 are Folklore, Oblivion, and Red Faction.

Oblivion has had hours upon hours put into it but its so massive I never get around to the real storyline. Plus being stuck via glitch as a vampire kills my will to play a bit.

Folklore just bored me a bit.

I got Red Faction for free and have little will to play it. All I want to do is break stuff without the 5-0 getting all up in my grill. Damn cops ruin everything.

I have game ADD or something. I play about halfway through and get distracted by something new and shiny or old and nostalgic. Usually only truly gripping games lure me and and keep me held until I beat them (Mass Effect 1/2, for instance). I wouldn't be surprised if after all of my years of gaming, I've only truly beaten less than 20 games.
