No matter how good/bad a game is, do you actually finish the story mode? I'm not talking about 100% completion by collecting bonuses or something. Just the game (where there's a long story mode)is done and you see the credits. Sports games and 1 on 1 fighting games do not count.

I only sometimes finish games. Usually I get bored about 50-60% of the way through. Or I get stuck in a spot, close the game and don't have the mood to play it later even if I figured out the solution to the problem.

I think the only games I've completed from start to finish (in recent memory): Shadow of the Colossus, Sly 2, Klonoa 2, a bunch of Pokemon games

I only finish games I really enjoy. Otherwise I enjoy it for a while and don't bother.

I finish every game I buy eventually, Except some shovelware and crap that came in steam deals that I have no intention to ever play. (Think Ludicity, Space Siege that I got gifted etc)

I'm usually pretty good about mashing through the story on those rare occasions where I play a story-based kind of game.

But as a general rule, city-builders and tycoon games don't have endings or stories.

I'm terrible at games.. (Ie, that I play/love/enjoy it for a while, then get distracted and completely forget about it, until a long time later where I just can't be bothered to start playing it again, no matter how much I loved it.)

I always go through the whole story mode on every game I buy. I enjoy most games stories (except Halo, that seemed to just go round in circles) and therefore finish them if I own them.

If i play game i generally like to finish it. Even when i get pissed off and turn it off and stop playing it for a few weeks i eventually come back to it and finish.

I don't complete them that often now I think about it. I often feel that I'm enjoying the story and I want to save it for later. Later never comes and I forget about them.

I complete games most of the time, if its an amazing game like Halo (Opinion) i'll complete it in a few hours and maybe play it through a few more times just to get the hang of the story line, but if its terrible like Risen (Opinion), Too hard like Operation Flashpoint: DR (Opinion), Too long, or I just get stuck, I simply stop trying eventually...

I complete most games that I get, although there are a few (GTA IV I'm looking at you) where I lose interest before completing.

Since the popularity boom of Achievements... No.
In the old games, I sometimes try to collect stuff but if it gets too tedious, i dont bother.

Most of the time. If I really love the game, and have time to spare, I will 100% it. Games I have 100% for sure: GTA3, Vice City and San Andreas. Bully. Assassins Creed 2, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. Mario 64. Er... most of the C&C games... Yeah. I will most likely 100% Red Dead Redemption, as it is the best fucking game ever.

Almost always.

I'm struggling to get through Metro 2033 at the minute though - if someone could kindly explain the logic of hitting me with endless waves of enemies, when there is very little ammo available and I'm having to resort to shooting the game's currency (pre-nuke bullets) then that'd be great.

It's destroying the entire game.

I always at least try to. I've finished pretty much every game I own; when I don't finish a game it tends to be because it was so difficult that it stopped being fun. Case in point: Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. I love the series, and Shadows of Amn is one of my favourite games of all time, but Throne of Bhaal is just far too difficult. I finally threw in the towel after getting TPKed by Draconis for about the 100th time.

I will always finish a game but a select few I will stay and collect everything, super Mario world, super Mario 64, and The World Ends With You are all games I beat to 100% completion.

Depends on the game. Sometimes I get frustrated, sometimes I get bored, and sometimes the game just sucks. If I complete a game more than once then it goes into my list of awesome games.

I tend to complete handheld games more because I have more time to play them, rather than sitting in front of a TV or a computer for hours.

A lot of the time I get distracted by some of my favorite online games. For instance, I have a whole stack on unfinished PS2 games in my room, yet I continue to play Left 4 Dead 2 and Counter-Strike: Source for hours on end.

Often. Because RPGs are rarer these days, with maybe a few a year. Back in the PS1/PS2 days, I had to juggle RPGs constantly, and most went unfinished as new ones came out. The PS1/PS2 had more RPGs than I could handle.

Now, it's just 6-10 hour action games. And I finish all of those.
