I play through the entire thing most of the time... eventually.

It only took me some 13 years to see Diablo through to the end.

It usually doesn't take that long, though.

Almost always.

I'm struggling to get through Metro 2033 at the minute though - if someone could kindly explain the logic of hitting me with endless waves of enemies, when there is very little ammo available and I'm having to resort to shooting the game's currency (pre-nuke bullets) then that'd be great.

It's destroying the entire game.
its cause your near the end of the game then, at that point it truly doesn't matter wiether or not you use up all you bullets

If some of the achievements are too hard I don't do them. But I try to finish the whole game in every game.

it really depends on how often i have an chance to buy a new video game but all the games i've ever bought i've finished in around 2-5 days

if i ever wanted to buy a game i would do it early in the morning like around 3 AM, that way i have all day to play it

I generally try to finish a game but... with games like Fallout 3 and Oblivion... even after going through every main story and faction-related quest... there just feels like more to do.
Especially if I install mods.
Incidentally, if you have a PC version of Oblivion... I'd strongly recommend the following mods: Malevolant, Tears of the Fiend, and Midas Magic.
No, I didn't make any of those mods. The first two are the BEST quest mods I've played, and Midas Magic introduces an entirely new magic system while leaving the old one intact.

Sorry if that derailed the thread a bit.

=X oh. well then your probably near a station or something soon where you can buy more, big help is if there is only one or two enemies left use your combat knife saves a lot of ammo. But trust me metro is worth the struggle if you play it a second time and get the ENLIGHTENED ending.

if I trade in a game before I at least finish the story, then it must've been a god awful game.

I don't finish many games anymore. Possibly the storyline, but I don't usually 100% something.

I usually do, unless the game is too hard (Devil May Cry 3), too terrible (Soul Caliber Legends), or both (Spiderman 3).

I always at least try to. I've finished pretty much every game I own; when I don't finish a game it tends to be because it was so difficult that it stopped being fun. Case in point: Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal. I love the series, and Shadows of Amn is one of my favourite games of all time, but Throne of Bhaal is just far too difficult. I finally threw in the towel after getting TPKed by Draconis for about the 100th time.
Oh you can beat him! He's tricky, no doubt, but you can do it! I was able to beat him using D&D rules, a butt-load of summoning, and I think a few traps...though that was, indeed, very tricky. I actually found him harder then the final battle.

OT: Since my income isn't huge, I don't buy games that often. Therefore I play the crap out of all the games I do own.
Which means I usually beat them all, sometimes repeatedly.
But this also means I certainly get my money's worth!

Almost always, there are very few games that I don't finish. I find it's hard not to. The only ones I haven't are Portal, because I got bored halfway through, and Half Life 2, because I experienced a game-breaking glitch, didn't like it much anyway and decided not to bother.

I think I finish about 50% of the games I play. I don't usually have a lot of time to play games, so when I've got multiple games to play I have to choose which one I like best and focus on that. I try not to buy new games when I'm already immersed in one I haven't finished yet, but too often something comes out that I just have to play and I'm too weak-willed to resist the temptation.

I'll nearly always finish it. Games don't come cheap and I usually pick my games carefully. I often finish most games I own twice in fact.
