Right now I'm reading 'Post Captain' by Patrick O'Brian. Before that I read 'Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell' by Susanna Clarke.
I only read book when I have to for english at school. The books they choose are really boring. I read all 'The Lord of The Rings' books and 'The Hobbit' from cover to cover though.
I get through about a book a week, I have to take two long train journeys every day so it always helps to have a book on hand.
Currently reading 'The Big Bounce' by Elmore Leonard, enjoying it so far but then I'm a huge Elmore Leonard fan so not too many surprises there.
Recently I've been going through a spate of re-reading books I've read before. The last book I finished was the complete edition of RA Salvatore's 'The Dark Elf' trilogy. Read them before years ago, but re-reading them I'm enjoying them a lot more. Salvatore might not be the most technically compotent writer around, but he tells a bloody good story and in the end that's all that counts.

<color=purple> I used to read rather often, but I seem to have lost my way. I haven't read for recreation in some time now. A friend of mine keeps telling me that he has a great series that he is gonna lend to me, but it has yet to happen. I still read manga online, if that counts. As far as books go, I like fiction. Sci-Fi, Fantasy. That kind of stuff. But occasionally I drift away from the norm. I believe the last real book I read was God's Debris by Scott Adams. Great book.

It depends on what games I have at the time. If I have no games that interest me at the moment, I'll read a book a day. If I'm playing a good game, then I wont read until I beat said game.

I enjoy reading immensely. I read mostly non-fiction and biographies, although I still enjoy historical fiction and classics.
Reading is a dying art in this world. Yes, the internet can provided information without the need for books, but I dislike the idea of all books being replaced by computers. There is something about a book that is so enjoyable, yet so simple, that it is easily one of the greatest creations by mankind. I am not a bookworm in the sense I do not read constantly, but I do read regularly, and encourage people to do so.
And when I say reading, I do not mean solely reading books that are the latest sensation, like the Harry Potter series or the Twilight series (I discourage people from reading Twilight at all). Those are great ways to get into reading, but I really want people to read the great works of non-fiction and fiction: The great tales of Homer, Virgil, and Ovid. The philosophies of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The speeches of Cicero, Caesar, and Cato. This is but a small sampling of the works I suggest people read.

I always was vexed at the reading choices schools made. They were always some attempt at merely pandering to multiculturalism. I encourage people to read the books of other cultures, but I prefer they read the great works of other culture first before looking into the newer works.Keepitclean said:

I voted for once a month but now thinking about it it's more like one a week. I have books like Elephants on Acid, Darwin awards, Hippo Eats Dwarf (Collections of amusing occurrences, factual and legendary) next to the porcelain throne. Nothing like sitting down, relaxing and reading some interesting anecdotes while dropping the kids off at the pool.
Novels set in classical history are my real love. The reason I hated the film 300 was because of a book called Gates of Fire by Steven Presfield, having read it I felt it was a waste of what could have been a truly amazing film about the battle of Thermopylae. Conn Iggulden's series about Caesar and Ghengis Khan are also especially good, highly recommended.
Last book read was Blue Blood by Edward Conlon (Massive book of memoirs from a former member of the NYPD, astonishing, hilarious and horrifying from cover to cover). Currently reading Lustrum, Robbert Harris' (The guy who's book The Ghost is now the film with Piers Brosnan and Ewan McGregor) Lustrum.
