We all know Yahtzee, the man behind Zero Punctuation. His views are the hot topic of many conversations, mainly due to how harsh he is on games. We all know that it is his opinion, but it IS meant to be listened to and taken into consideration. So I ask of you, how seriously do you take it? Personally I watch the show purely for the laughs and completly block out his arguments when I buy games, but what about you?
Look, buddy. Use the damn search bar. This question is asked monthly and the answer is always the same. He takes real flaws from games and blows them out of proportion for comedic effect. Nobody takes Zero Punctuation seriously.
We may have had this thread before but it doesn't mean we should berate a new user for making this thread.

There are users here now that are discussing this thread topic that were not here a month ago, let them have their fun, let them have this thread.
Look, I get that. But it doesn't stop the annoyingly high amount of regular repeat threads on this site.

Your poll is broken, there's no neutral choice of 'I listen to him for entertainment, but he makes valid points on existing games that shouldn't bother me if I was legitimately excited to play it.' I know its a tad long, but hey thats where I stand with him.

More towards the topic, I always figured he was harsh because no one else will be. Xplay, as an example, acts like 'brutally honest' game review, but they point out none of the flaws of top high end games. They hate and poke the most fun on old genres, series, and generally anything they think will get a laugh or two for more viewers.

I watch Yahtzee both before and after I have a game he reviewed, to get one of those 'yeah hes right' type laughs, but by all means doesn't make me not like the game at all. He doesn't have scores because they are a poor excuse for actual facts of what works, whats broken, and what is legitimately fun.

As with all my posts, this is entirely my standpoint/opinion and not ment to cause epic flames of any kind.

He's the only reviewer I know who has the balls to insult even his favorite games.

So pretty seriously, especially against things like GT reviews, Screwattack, and the loads of AVGN wannabes.

He's funny, but has mostly terrible taste in games as far as I'm concerned. I've never taken him seriously. I just watch him for the laughs.

I don't take him seriously though he DOES have some valid points from time to time. Also, a lot of the games he's mentioned on his show that don't get a lot of coverage have actually had me give them a second look as opposed to the opinions of other "legit" critics.

The only way you will stop this repeat thread is by vaporising Yahtzee from the minds of everyone, good luck with that.

Just let the newbies have there thread, I know its a repeat but its their thread, but you was a newbie once and chances are you participated in the same thread that you are now irritated by.

Let the new guys and gals into this community, you never know, you might really like them.

Oh, I don't, except when he recommends a game, because I know it'll be interesting. I just think that his reviews are hilarious, and that's about it.

Heh, he finds the smallest things and makes an entire rant about them. A funny rant yes, but a very good representation of the quality of the game? Normally, no. Very rarely does he truly treat a game fairly.

I bought Wii Sports Resort this past Christmas. He was right about the wonky controls, but I still like it.

Gawd, I HATE him! Always criticizing the writing and multiplayer in games. How dare he! Did you see his MW3 review where he said he didn't like how any of it? Rabble! Rabble! Rabble! Doesn't he have anything better to do than criticize my favorite games? I can hardly sleep at night knowing that there's somebody out there who wasn't impacted by the Gears of War plot as much as I was. Rabble! Telling us when games are too short, too linear or too braindead stupid, the nerve!

If I didn't have to hear his breathless, british voice played over over porn to get off I'd never watch his frivolous videos!

I respect Yahtee's opinion, but I don't agree to everything he says and I perfectly know when should I stop listening and start chuckling.

Thank you, I don't think I've laughed so much in days. People need to check this out.

The Super Mario Galaxy 2 review. The worse part is that he basically avoids talking about the game, basically refusing to go over any aspects of it whatsoever
Seriously, who uses basically twice in a sentence? Seriously.

He's -usually- correct. He fucked up on Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear Solid 4 and EVE Online though.

At this point, he's the only critic who really has any influence on what I choose play. I don't always agree with him, but he's always makes a clear, well argued point, which at least has allowed me to develop a pretty good sense of how his tastes compare with my own, and that's kind of the most you expect from any critic in any medium.

i like how i predicted the graph to be a curve like it is.

i dunno, i don't necessarily agree with him most of the time, but i still think he is funny, and has a hell of a lot more of a valid opinion than most people on the internet. *note, this is just saying most people invalidate their opinion by being anonymous and by being an asshole about it

I took him seriously when I first started watching him years ago when I was an idiot. Then I just watched him for the long metaphors he gives. Recently...I find it hard to watch Yahtzee and care any more. He seems to be more ranting about games he doesn't like than making funny reviews. Hell, the entire Gears 3 video was just him doing nothing but ragging on the series. There was nothing funny in it. I think he's lost whatever it was that kept me intrigued every week.,

He makes valid points. We should all be a bit harsher with our criticism of games. We can still play them and get some enjoyment from them but there's nothing wrong with asking for something a bit better from game developers. Why settle for average?

I listen to his arguments, but half the time I end up drawing entirely different conclusions from what he said. Something he holds up as a shining example of how crap something is, I might consider to be a game's best feature. Still, for the most part he and I get the same overall opinion on games. I played Eve, it DID feel like a giant market simulator with some space stuff tacked on. I wholeheartedly agree that Assassins Creed is annoyingly treading water around its most profitable character as long as possible. I agree that Modern Warfare 1 was a surprisingly deep game (Seriously, that nuke scene alone sold the entire game for me), but the others have been fairly "meh". It's only on occassion that we dissagree, so when it comes to deciding what to spend 40-50 quid on, I'm willing to take his advice to heart as a tie-breaker.

It's like clockwork, Yahtzee reviews a Nintendo game and the "Do you really take Yahtzee serious" and "It's only for entertainment and his reviews mean nothing" threads pop up. Do a search for "do you agree with Yahtzee" or "Yahtzee reviews for the loss" and you'll find tons of people to agree with you.

As for your question yes, I take his reviews incredibly seriously... AS HIS OWN OPINIONS... Since I have my own opinions and do not base my interests on another person's taste I still buy and enjoy games he finds horrible.
Pretty much what I had to say on the subject, really. Thank ye kindly! :3

If it was possible, I'd love to see the stats on how many hop on the non-serious boat when he (inevitably) trashes one of their pet-titles.
