I do take hi seriously. But I know that he overblows almost every criticism he makes about games for comedic affect but that doesn't mean the core message aren't without merit.

We all know Yahtzee, the man behind Zero Punctuation. His views are the hot topic of many conversations, mainly due to how harsh he is on games. We all know that it is his opinion, but it IS meant to be listened to and taken into consideration. So I ask of you, how seriously do you take it? Personally I watch the show purely for the laughs and completly block out his arguments when I buy games, but what about you?
Look, buddy. Use the damn search bar. This question is asked monthly and the answer is always the same. He takes real flaws from games and blows them out of proportion for comedic effect. Nobody takes Zero Punctuation seriously.
"nobody takes zero punctuation seriously"

...uh buddy, the poll results beg to differ.
What they probably mean by "I listen around half of the time" is "After mentally tuning down the sarcasm and obviously out of proportion criticism, he says things that makes sense." Which is not the same thing as taking ZP seriously.

I declined to vote because there wasnt an option for "he has some valid points but its mostly just faffing about", to the heart of the matter he's a critic he does reviews. I dont take them seriously and never as a recomendation for or against purchase, i see it as a form of entertainment more than anything else, yes he does have some compelling arguments from time to time and i genunily believe that despite what he may say wither its praise or hatred somthing can be learned from it.

I see him as a comedian first and a critic second. True, he makes excellent points, but I think his primary objective is to draw attention to flaw by getting us to laugh at them.

That's just my view. Feel free to rip it to shreads should you see fit to do so.

You do know that the title of the thread is "how seriously do you take what Yahtzee says" right? That includes Extra Punctuation and the whatnot, not just ZP

I don't agree with absolutely everything Yahtzee says, but, I definitely respect his opinion and enjoy his video reviews and the Extra Punctuation column, even if they're speaking out against games that I enjoy (which I might add, isn't very often).

The real reviews come in the Extra Puctuation, not the Zero ones. So i believe that people should see the video as soon that the article for that video is available so they dont get too angry or too serious about the game.

Not even slightly. He has specifically said that he'd rather insult things than compliment them because that gets him more views.

That, plus if is column is any indication, his opinions and ideas would likely ruin the gaming industry.

Also, he liked Painkiller.

Eh, He has views and preferences so that needs to be taken into account. He likes some genres and not as much some others. I do feel the need to point out that he HAS to play one a week. More, if he has some titles he enjoys off the hook; due to this, I think that a lot of fun and replay value might be lost. Also, he is a CRITIC, meaning he is looking for things to point out that are not prefect. I listen as he finds things that I would overlook, or just don't care about.

In the end, I trust my judgement more then his. However he has good points and does his job in such a way that I enjoy him hating on games I liked.

I'm not going to diss Ben here. I think that he's a very smart guy and I'm sure he knows what he's doing. I wouldn't nececcsarily buy a game just because he recommended it but I do listen to what he says because he is an intelligent guy and if you read his extra punctuation, you can see that he has some very good views and points on gaming and I think more people should take him seriously.

He has very clear cut opinions. Some of them clash with mine, like his stance on cover-based shooting, others line up with mine, that games do need to start weaving story and gameplay better. For the most part, his reviews don't affect my opinions of the games too much, but I respect his honesty. His Extra Punctuation articles are excellent as well. My two personal favorite ones were the ones talking about couples (or lack thereof) in gaming and the potential of the Kinect.

I like to play the game then listen to what he has to say to see if I pick up on it or if I totally missed it or if he's just pulling things out of his arse

He makes a lot of good valid points, if you go STRICTLY by what he says it's over the top so of course it's going to be exaggerated.
