i have been a genius since i was diagnosed at 4... sometimes it's a bummer, trying to make people understand you, i dont lord my intellect over people, but sometimes its nice to burst the intelectual bubble of someone who thinks they are smarter than everyone and lords their rather unremarkable gray matter over others. theres no shame in being how ever smart you are. curiosity, imagination: these matter, that and being a gamer makes us better than others anyways hehe

I could probably get stunning grades if I put my mind to it, but if I can slack off until two days before the exam and STILL get a good passing grade (6 or 7 out of 10), why bother?)
So you have evidence of how clever you are to make it easier getting a job? I did better than you, I slacked of straight through my exams and got the 3rd best grades.

I'm studying history. Right now, I don't really care about job prospects. Otherwise, I'd be studying law or medicine.

To cut a long story short average. If the majority of people think they are above average, wouldn't that mean that they are average in comparison to each other?

Not thinking about your future properly; some might call that stupid.

I'd like to think that I'm more 'wise' than 'intelligent' but ultimately the comparision between me and others should be left to another person (I'm obviously going to be biased but then again so would the 'others' I'm being compared to).

EDIT: I've just realised this would be my 2000th post. That's good, right?

I've got almost 2 years before I get my BA; after that, another year or two for my MA. For now, I don't need to think about my future. It isn't necessary yet. Especially since history doesn't limit you to one or two particular career paths, you can go pretty much anywhere with it. I'll find something in due time.

"expeiranced"

...... Are you trollin' or is irony in?
Sorry I have a netbook meaning typing with a small keyboard is tedious, and I was rushing it so I didn't get a chance to check it.

But yes irony is funny right now .

I didn't vote considerably above average because of a high estimation of myself, but because of a low estimation of others.

I voted slightly below average, even though I have a higher education and other people have said I'm smart. When I'm around people who are clearly very intelligent, well read and alike I cannot help but feel small and stupid.

However, there are different types of intelligence... I'm not talking hyperbole like 'street smarts'. There are people who would ace an official IQ test but have the common sense of a fish that swims into the side of its tank and vice versa. There are also people who are very well read and can cite for you any number of facts but if you asked them to do an on the spot calculation they'd be flummoxed.

In the end, I think what it boils down to more than any IQ related figure or qualification is that it's the effort you take in learning that defines you as intelligent. If you have common sense, can quote a million and one books and do on the spot calculations etc... then you'd be deemed a genius.

This barely scratches the surface though; there's a whole myriad of topics related to this that could be discussed, wisdom vs knowledge... what you know more than what you are capable of knowing etc etc.

I voted considerably below average, but truth be told, I misread it and thought it said "Considerably above average". So I guess it wasn't a mistake after all, heh.

Seriously though, there's this test you can do in Sweden called Högskoleprovet. It tests your skills in the Swedish language, the English language, logic, and other stuff whcih traditionally determine your smarts. Last time I did that, 88% of the tens of thousands of people taking the test were below my level. That's pretty smart.

It's only the smartest people in the world who realise how stupid they really are.

IQ tests tend to be inaccurate and biased due to most of the questions (and answers) being focused towards a white, middle class background (at least this is theorised to be the case in the UK anyway) so I'd hardly call it proof (although you did realise this so credit to you for pointing it out).
