You may well be right with the other higher-scored IQ test.
The figures are from the MENSA website. Fry may not be the smartest person ever, but he's amongst them.
Really? Yes, he's a very bright guy and definitely a genius, but I do find it a little hard to believe that he's amongst the most intelligent people ever. What are the actual figures and do you have a link?

I have an IQ of 118 but that was just from an Internet test, I've never done a real one.

Also I like to think my intelligence is above average, I've been told I'm smarter than I let on but I'm just really lazy.

I was apparently the 4th smartest kid in my year in high school, and I was invited into the Gifted and Talented Youth organisation which at the time told me it was for the top 4% of young people in the UK (might have been other countries in it too). But my brain doesn't work well unless I'm under pressure, all revision I do for subjects has to be last minute stuff and all coursework is either late or completed on the deadline.

But I have a habit of learning lots and lots of things that I will likely never use in my spare time instead of the things I should be learning.

I consider myself slightly above average. I struggle in school, but I seem to be smarter than I let myself be.

I'm your typical slacker-genius, so I don't do the honors classes and stuff. Last time I checked, my IQ was 129, which I guess is one point below 'gifted?' I was in my middle school's gifted minds class all three years, and actually got in there in fourth grade, but I quit because I wasn't learning anything. And the teacher always sounded like she was about to burst into tears. So I had to wait until middle school to get in again.

I pick up new concepts fairly quickly, too. Except math. I'm godawful at math.

So... above average, but not Dexter's Laboratory above average.

Well, I tested at 160+ when I was 5, but apparently I got bored and refused to finish the test, so (I don't actually remember).Nowadays, I'm failing most things in school, but that's more due to lack of effort than anything else. I'm the Slaking of the real world.

I'm having trouble finding a way to say I'm smart without sounding like a douche. Anyway, a lot of people seem to think I'm some sort of genius, but I beg to differ. Okay, so I don't exactly beg. I'll just rate myself as above average.

You do know that the standard IQ test only goes up to 160? And that I believe only Stephan Fry has that level. With Hawking at about 158.
Stephen Hawking has never taken an IQ test, in fact he said this:

"I have no idea [what my IQ is]. People who boast about their IQ are losers."

Trying not to sound like an arrogant prick, but lets face it: Average is actually pretty dumb. Average suggests majority, and as we all know, the majority is usually wrong/under-educated/ignorant. The average person is unable to think for themselves, beyond believing that they actually do think for themselves.

Now, I am not saying that I am, like, the smartest person ever, but I do have the intelligence to make my own decisions, while also being able to alter my own opinions when I receive insight from another person.

Because I care more about the the thinking process then I do about being right (logic over pride) most of the time, I would consider myself to be pretty far above average.

of course, we also have to consider the difference between wisdom and Knowledge. Are both needed to be, truly, intelligent? Or neither?

I'd say probably average. I fall down in maths related problems but I've always made up for it through feats of literary brilliance and strangely, when considering my allergy to maths, my understanding of scientific theory.

I'm not exactly sure where that leaves me.
Probably still pretty darn stupid
yup i'm in the 99th percentile in pretty much anything at school, but if i went to korea, i'd probably be in like the 10th percentile.

Every time on every forum when there's a thread like this there's a surprising amount of people who claim to have IQs in the levels above 140. Considering something like less than 2% of the human population have and IQ that high and the fact that there's something about the Escapist (and every other forum where this thread has been seen) that just happens to draw this group of people here in great concentrations I'm going to assume most of those claims are lies.

That said, I am incredibly intelligent myself.

I took three IQ tests during my entire life. The first one was at the age of 8 and I scored 92. The second one was during a psychiatric evaluation at the age of 14 where I scored an 86. The third one I took when I was 16 and scored 101. According to my psychologist I have a well developed vocabulary, general knowledge that she considers is above the norm and fancies me a surgeon. My academic skills were somewhat above the norm but took a steep dive after the 6th grade whereas I went from a 9,10 to a 6,55.

Stupid is as stupid does. According to one specialist I'm a moron, according to another I'm an intelligent individual with a lot of potential who needs guidance in order to realize that potential. I consider myself as average as a man can be.

Top 0.5% of the world, Einstein level of IQ according to doctors to did a test on me (to see if I was stupid or something), very surprised by my results.
Also doing a minimum wage job so IQ doesn't actually define your quality of life.

I suffer from all the social pitfalls of being a genius and can't seem to utilize any of the benefits.

I happen to retain a lot of information I read or deem important (especially things that AREN'T important), insanely quick-witted though.

I scored a 173 on my last IQ test. I say, without ego, that i am smarter than 90% of the people i've ever met...that being said i do live only 13 miles from West Virgina so that may not be saying much at all.

I think I'm average or slightly above but most people who say anything about my intelligence seem to think I'm a genius girl. I don't quite agree so I just said "above average" to even it out XD

Considering the usual... well, not inaccuracy, but definitely lack of real meaning behind IQ test results, I wouldn't look to those to decide my intelligence.

I'll say what I always say: I'm just smart enough to realize how stupid I really am. I envy those unaware of their stupidity, and I definitely envy those whose brains are on a legitimately higher level. I don't fit into either of those (very broad) categories, so I guess that makes me average. It kind of sucks.

The first thing that popped to mind when I saw the thread was "Way above average" and lo and behold it was an option so I chose that I'm not exactly sure I actually fit into that category tho, I did some MENSA IQ test and got ~130 so rank me as you see fit

During most of my life, I suffered from the WORST kind of stupidity to exist: Thinking that I was the smartest guy in the room. It caused me to ignore a lot of helpful advice from people who really did know what they were talking about. Nowadays, I'm quick to admit that I'm NOT an expert at everything, but I am willing to learn about almost anything.
