We use the imperial system in the U.S., I'm a 6'0" male. My mom's family is tall, with granddad and my uncle being 6'4" and 6'7" respectively. The girls usually get to be 5'8" but a few are 6ft. I,m shorter because my father's family are small(Dad is 5'9"). I am the smallest male member of my family (got my mother's smurf genes unfortuently). Apart from me, the next smallest person is 6 foot, 2 inches, my younger brother. After that, the uncles, cousins, brothers and father all range between 6 foot, 3 inches and 6 foot, 10 inches.

Don't know if anyone pointed this out, but by looking at the distribution of poll results, your use of the word "average" in the poll options is off by at least 20 cm.
USA statistics agree more with the distribution here rather than your 140-160 definition of "roughly average".
Teenager average height is 167 cm [1] while adult is 169 cm [2] (USA, 2006).
Also, you skipped the 170-180 range.

OT: I'm just shy of 180cm. But to put it into context, my old man is 165ish, my mum is 150, my sisters are both 158, the tallest of my uncles is 175, the tallest of my first cousins is 173 (or thereabouts). And I'm the youngest of the whole lot.
Remarkably, ~70-90% of this poll's participants are above average height for men for most parts of the western world, even after including the women.
