So how unique is your surname with regards to where you live?
Example, Chan or Salvatorei might be common surnames in some countries but might be pretty odd/unique for the one in which you live.

My name surname is Anderson... it's pretty common and dull :(

I'm changing my name, but at the moment --> My last name is in the poll, it's smith.

I'm changing my name to my mother's last name soon though, it's much more interesting, and fairly uncommon.

Rare where I am, but there are lots of me on Facebook. I was actually scared to realise there were 4 of me in one facebook group. As in, my whole name, not just my surname.

Mine is rare enough for people to mispronouce it. Never met someone with the same last name, except my cousin did a facebook search and said she found some people with it

McNeil.
Quite common.
I hate it.

My mother's maiden name of McCarthy though, I wish I had that. It's still quite common, but is classy as all hell.

Smith. Seriously. Everyone thinks I'm Mormon. (I live in a Mormon-heavy area) But I'm a blacksmith, so it actually works.

My surname is Hope, I've only heard of one other person outside of my family with that surname, that person would be Bob Hope.

EDIT:// Though I imagine it would be more common over in Britain.

Very rudonkoulusly exotic.

I did the facebook thing, and it turns out that its less then 100 people in America.

However, if I went to greece it wouldn't be all that unique.

Its not long if thats what your thinking.

Mine's very common in Portugal and many people around here can guess my nationality just by listening to my surname. But they will still mispell it.

It's Goncalves, not Gonsalves!

Sorta common where I live. I know there's even at least one other guy in San Diego with the same surname and given name as me, since I went to school with him years ago. The teacher had to use our middle names...

Griffiths. Its such a British name you can practically see the Union Jack flying behind it.... Too bad I live in Canada.
