The most plausible scenario is probably several disasters at once - like an asteroid striking earth, then a pandemic and global food shortages. But the asteroid would have to be very large & travelling fast for us not to have spotted it at this point.

Not with a bang, but with a whimper.

Actual answer = No idea. The Aporkalypse that was forseen earlier this year, perhaps? (which was luckily averted...for now!!)

Reality will twist itself inside out. Eldritch Abominations will do battle with Dragons, Demons, and Frost Giants. people will nuke the monsters witch will give the survivors super powers and fry their skin off. These super powered ghouls will do battle with the surviving monsters including Mega Nuclear Cthulu and when the battle ends, there will be a 500 square mile sized hole in the earth and the skies will be all fire and lighting and potatoes. 79 people will survive and usher in a new era.

Directed by Micheal Bay.

*bangs head on wall*.

It will end in a storm of repeat threads.

Aliens the size of blimps that slightly resemble the Hanar will float down from the sky spraying a viscous ooze that will envolope the entire planet, the effect of which will be equivalent of turning the ground into a giant sticky mouse trap. Afterwards the alien creatures will devour all of the lifeforms stuck in the ooze and use the protein strains they harvested to re-seed the planet with new lifeforms. This is the prophecy that has been fore-told since man was riding dinosaurs.

Riots by people who are desperately gathering supplies for the oncoming apocalypse, whatever the cost.
That will end the world.

Well the thing that will destroy the world itself is probably a comet or the sun expanding. Killing all life I'd have to guess probably a gamma radiation spike.

Simple.

Unexpectedly large solar flare hits the planet.
All electronics go down.
Everything is practically run and depends on electronics.

Human civilization as we know it crumbles. We'll still be here but society will chance for certain. Rebuild... probable.

In the long run, sun grows large as it ages and the world gets hotter. It gets hot enough when it can't support life any more but by that time we'll probably colonized a few more planets.

Or at least moved to Mars.

Robot Apocalypse, because we're actively working towards making it happen.

Other: Gamma Ray Burst.

So I survived (how?), and now. . . well, the atmosphere is kind of toxic, everything living has been fried and everything running of electricity has been fried. The ozone layer is kind of missing so going out during the day would fry me. Also, the toxins in the atmosphere would likely cause global cooling, which would make it cold, so going out during the nights could be bad as well.

On the bright side, I don't think a weapon of self-defence would be needed. Then again there's no way I'd survive past the initial surviving of the actual GRB anyway. At the most I'd survive a few days before I'd die from exposure to toxins/radiation/whatnot.

Earth will go down by being swallowed by Earth. By then humans have either migrated to another planet, or just embraced their demise long before that even happens.

The apocalypse isn't real.

The planet Earth will be destroyed as the sun enters the final stages of its life and becomes a red giant.

Humanity will probably die off due to overpopulation and lack of resources, a nuclear exchange may also occur.

Perhaps one day we shall become so advanced we shall decide that there is absolutely no point in reproducing.
It wouldn't be the end of the world, but it would be a decent end for us.

I'd say it'd be via siege of K-Pop. The Australian President said so!

But she's wrong... No, for deep within the earth there is a greater threat. They call them legion, for they are many and we are but few...
