take my weapons, hijack some hummers or large 4x4s. make a quick stop at a supermarket and DIY store. find a house or maybe a college building with a decent amount of ground at the front and back so i can see whats coming. preferably close to the DIY and food store, so more supplies can be gone for more easily .
then fortify my position, by sealing all windows and doors on the bottom floor. destroy the stairs and replace with a ladders for example. this way if anything gets in downstairs, as well as knowing from little trip wires etc it wont be able to get on to the 2nd or higher floor were me and other survivors are.
all food, meds, drink etc will be rationed, but not that bad that people arnt happy.
once all settled, send scouting parties out to collect more supplies, food, transport, fuel etc. keep in one place as long as possible. and only move or use ammunition etc only when necessary.
hmm i think theres more but, as you can tell i have thought about this ... a lot lol.
oh and if i managed to secure a house with empty ground on all sides a nice deep moat with a fence on the inside and a drawbridge to get across.
