Okay, lets say that the US and China for to war, who do you think would win? This question has a lot of factors that help decide the answer,

Who would ally with whom?

Could either economy hold up without the other?

Would nuclear arms get involved?

Is china's large army enough to compensate for their lack of a modern air force and navy?

What do the Escapists think?

Personally I think people give the Chinese military to much credit, compared to it's western counterparts, it is very ill equipped and trained. The Chinese Air Force and Navy are also next to non-factors compared with the US Air Force and Navy. The only real danger is the Economic consequences, and Nuclear War.

The Chinese has a huge army, although extremely untrained and futile in comparison to modern day US troops, but I've actually heard that marines these days arent all that well off in the training scheme of things. And i've heard that from ex-marines. But yes nuclear arms would definately be involved, although I think in that case we'd all be screwed.

China would get:
Germany

I think overall the Yanks would win, although I have a huge feeling that The Chinese aren't the type to go down by themselves.

How would Germany and France join China? I thought they were part of the EU?

US would lose. Economically, China is much more valuable than the US, which would be replaced by the EU in world economics. Hence, everyone would side with China.

I believe it would be USA - they have superior navy and air force,China has f***ing huge army. But they would have big problem moving few millions of people over the Pacific ocean,and States could bomb them right away. So i suppose US would win. Not easily,but would.

On the other hand,Chinese gonverment could just nuke American population centers,or worse - coax Russia into starting a nuclear war which would destroy the planet.

I hope this never happens.

It will probably be brought on by the conflict over Kashmir between India and Pakistan (They've gone to war over it before), Iran having nukes, and the hatred of Israel and the U.S. from the Middle-eastern countries. We are surely headed for some sort of bigger conflict.

What's scary is that most of these countries have nukes, we'd be FUCKED.

Also, India has had disputes with China for years. Plus, we have VERY good relations with India, and we are allies.

So far as I know, neither country's leadership wants a nuclear war with anyone. So the United States superior naval/air power would insure its eventual victory.

so much of the stuff in America is made in China, they would run out of a supplies and all that tech that China has to build American stuff would be made to make army stuff for China

yes there might be an advantage of air and sea to the states. however China has been rumoured to have a bunch of crackers ready to attack the States and knowing how bad computer security is, the American Forces are in for a lot of trouble and so is the whole infrastructure

I think you lot might be underestimating China's Military technology wise, or overestimating America's superiority whichever fits.

Probably U.S. There's our superior navy/air force, plus our battle-hardenedness, having fought in a good chunk of the major wars in global history over the past century.

The real question is why America or China would think its a good idea to start a war right now.

They wouldn't. The very idea is laughable, even as a thought experiment. The two countries are just too interdependent (and common culture too against it) to ever fight each other.

But, as an utterly absurd idea...it would end in a draw. There is no other way it could end. Neither side would use nuclear weapons, and conventional fighting would be limited. Invasions would be right out. The conflict also wouldn't last very long.
