I thought the games were fun. Not masterpieces, but fun, enjoyable, what have you. Never really got into the multiplayer, though, and Halo 3 and ODST's campaigns were very short. I did very much enjoy the Firefly guys' voices in those games, as well as Firefight in ODST. It's not nearly as good as the fanboys will have you believe, and many of the characters are rather 1 - 2 dimensional, and ramble ramble ramble I enjoyed them.

Not many people dislike halo, a lot of people don't see it as god's gift however.

I enjoyed the multiplayer of halo, and the campaign was passable enough. Halo 2 and 3 on the other hand, we never really got along.

Both series, Halo and Half-Life are the best linear FPS's out there. Neither brings anything particularly new to the genre, but they polish every detail so well that the outcome is basically a perfect linear FPS-experience.

So yeah, I like Halo. Every game from Halo:CE to ODST have given me much enjoyment, fun times and even a bit of emotions within the years.

I enjoyed the basic idea of Halo more than the games. The idea of a long gone race of beings so advanced they can create moon sized rings to live on, (that are also massive weapons,) is truly epic. The games were fun except anything having to do with the flood. They were more annoying than Jar-Jar Binks. I really enjoyed Halo 3 & it's free roaming camera in replay mode. Haven't played any Halo game since though. ODST, the story of a less powerful soldier trying to defend a city we know is going to be destroyed anyway just doesn't appeal to me. (I'm more of a single player guy than death match.)

Halo is based on the book "Ringworld" by Larry Niven. The story in Halo is tiny when compared to the astoundingly epic nature of that book. Luckily, he wrote more than one Ringworld book. They are very good. The 1st one won the Hugo award. Ringworld isn't a moon sized ring. It's more like a slice of a Dyson Sphere. It's the diameter of a planet's orbit around a star. It's width is compared to how many Jupiters it would take to span across it. The first book covers its discovery and what happens a few years after that, but there are plans in place that have a timetable of thousands of years. If that's not epic, I don't know what is. :-D

Love the series but I was a little let down by ODST. Still, I sunk many hours into the multiplayer before I got tired of it which is more than I can say for pretty much any other multiplayer game.

Halo came out, everybody loved it. Then people started hating it because it was cool and edgy, and nobody did it before them.

Now it seems like some people regard liking the series to be just as obscure as people though it was to hating it when it was at the top.

Will it become edgy to like Halo soon? Will the circle ever end? Can I have pancakes?

I hope yes for one of them.
I'd give you pancakes.

Personally, I think the "Halo hate" has less to do with the games themselves and more to do with the fanboys who proclaim it the Messiah of gaming. Halo is just a FPS. It's well done, but the story and setting are hardly unique and Master Chief is really not very interesting. That being said, I really have an intense, burning indifference about the "greatness" of the games. They're good fun for multiplayer though.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

OT , I enjoyed the first one on the pc, halo 3 was alright, ODST is paying off with the Reach beta (jetpacks!), and halo wars just sucked.
GRAHH CURSE YOU VALVE FAN BOY!!
*shakes fist angrily at the sky*
Jk, jk.

OT:I went into the Beta wondering how the jetpacks would work, and i love them!
They are great for may things besides Raining Death from Above.
Breaking your fall, dodging, sneaking, surveillance.

Reach is looking to be great.
