[HEADING=1]POLL GOT REALLY ACTIVE, SO I'M TAKING SUGGESTIONS AGAIN![/HEADING]

These are the options I'm considering in Soul Silver. The rest of my team is Special focused, so I figured I'd go with more Physical Water types.

For those who haven't playing Pokemon in the Diamond/Pearl generation, moves are now individually based off of either Attack or Special Attack. For example, Waterfall uses Physical Attack, and Surf uses Special Attack. Both are Water type moves, though.

I need a Water type at this point...and need some help choosing. The above Water pokemon are the only physical ones that I can catch at this point in the game.

[HEADING=2]NO GODDAMN GYARDOS![/HEADING]

I've used them too many times before in games.
Garydos sucks anyway, Poliwags the shit. Also don't let it evolve, it looks so damn good the way it is.

Personally I'd go for Wooper. Not only does it look funky, but it's type means you won't have to worry about any pesky electrical types thunder-ing the hell out of it. On the other hand, the Poliwag line can learn Hypnosis, which kicks all kinds of ass if you're that kind of battler.

Me, I went for Slowpoke, then traded for a Slowking. Water/Psychic combo, with a decent special stat - plus, I have a weird pink hippo-ey thing with a crown!

The name of it alludes me but I remember thinking it was awesome when I like Pokemon.

The one I'm thinking of starts out as a stupid little fluffy dog...thing, that the Queen would probably be rather fond of, and then turns into a fire-breathing dog....thing. It can also turns into a kick ass electric shooting dog...thing. Anyway, the one that I suggest is the water version of the dog... thing.

I'm sorry I can't remember the name but it's been years since I played Pokemon and I only ever did the cards and the TV show (good times). Anyway, it's this fluffy dog... thing, that turns into one of three other dog... things.

I use a Kingler myself, so I'd go with that. What about Golduck, or do they just suck?

Personally I would choose Quagsire being that its a ground water type, so electric attacks dont effect it, but Kingler is also good since it can know guillotine (one hit KO move) and knows some ground attacks to fend off electric types. Tentacruel is good too, since it is not highly effected by grass types but instead by ground, electric and psycic types, however since there are soo many pokemon greatly against it, it would not be the best choice, the worst choice would be pollywhrath, being that four types are good against it,electric grass, flying and phsycic.

Quagsire
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/195.shtml
+ only pokemon good against it is grass types
+ good against electric types
+ HP is high
-grass do times 4 dammage to it
-speed is low

Kingler
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/099.shtml

+can be good on electric type if it doesn't get hit too much (knows ground moves but still electric and grass are 2x good against it)
+ can learn a one hit KO move
+ Good attack and defence
- Bad special attack and defence
- 2 types are 2x effective against it

Tentecruel
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/073.shtml

+high HP, Special defense, and speed
+is part poison so good against what poison is good against.
- 3 types are 2x effective against it

Poliwrath
http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-dp/062.shtml
+ is part fighting, so good against grass etc..
+ good HP and good Defence
- 4 types are 2x effective against it
again, I strongly say poliwrath is the worst choice...

If your looking for pokemon in terms of origionality, both Tentecruel and Kingler are underused, people wont expect them in online battles. The most un origional pokemon would be poliwrath, since every one has one.

Personally, I'd recommend Swampert. It's like Quagsire, only with better stats.

[sub] And it evolves from Mudkip. [/sub]

Since it's part ground, you also lose your vulnerability to electric. True, you get quad damage from grass, but it's still worthwhile.
