Poll: I should respect Muslim Traditions regarding women?

This is disgusting, a stoning victim begging for mercy. This is an islamic tradition regarding women, it dates back centuries, and it's utterly barbaric. So in the other thread about this topic, I whole heartily vote no. Women should have the same friggin rights as men.

To top it off, a Kurdish Gril was recently stoned to death.

An Iraqi woman was killed for falling in love with a german man.

This type of crap should not be tolerated, I will NOT respect a man's tradition of treating woman as property, I will not respect a man's tradition of having more rights than women, and I will not respect a man's tradition of killing women for being raped or for falling in love.

This crap is all over the muslim world, not just africa. Just because it's their culture doesn't mean it should be allowed. The Nazis had a culture too, should we have just allowed their actions to go unchallenged because of their culture? Your complacency is a crime against humanity in and of itself, you might not be the one selling a thirteen year old girl to a man who's going to rape her and call her his wife but you're ok with it, you're allowing it.

So what if it's their culture, did the women choose that culture? Did they choose to be subjected to such treatment? No, they were born into it like a slave born into bondage, and no civilized person should respect that.

That's true. Unfortunately, a lot of Arab tribal tradition made it into Islam. Frankly, what I've seen and read, pre-Islamic Arabia was a lot worse than Islamic Arabia.

On a less stupid note, while I agree that such practices are absolutely barbaric, it's none of my/your/our business. If the victims ask for help, I'd be more than willing to give it, but I will not support interference otherwise. People have the right to do as they please, no matter how distasteful it is, so long as the people it affects acquiesce.

No, see, this isn't a religious practice, this is tribal. Unfortunately, they will never acknowledge this.
They will claim that it is god's will, and that they have absolutely every right to do whatever the hell they see fit, even if it means stoning a girl to death for being raped.

If it was our country we could vote to change it. Obviously we can not do that. We should tolerate traditions, ours are as weird as theirs are.

Yes people are getting hurt, but who are we to tell them how to run their lives? The world is a rotten place, we have to accept it and move towards the future. Either these traditions are lost over time or we simply learn to follow by the laws of a country when we enter said country.

EDIT: Yes, I sound a little dissmissive over the loss of human life, but we should focus on the evils in OUR OWN nations before enforcing our laws onto others.

A little girl in Pakistan, 13, was buried up to her neck and stoned, dug up to check to see if she was dead, found still alive, reburied, and stoned to death.

This is a minority of the Muslim population. It's just that when they get into power bad things happen. You should define your population more carefully because you're just insinuating hate on the part of the population that has done nothing wrong.
