Considering the fact that people were calling this game of the year from pretty much the day it was announced, I would be very surprised if it didn't win some GOTY awards.

But there is no official "Game of the Year," that's just an award most publications give out, so it's kind of a ridiculous question.

The bottom line is, there were some excellent games this year in multiple genres and on multiple platforms. Skyrim will likely be one of them.

Whose game of the year?

Every man and his dog have a game of the year or a top ten list. Will Skyrim be on the top of some list, sure. Maybe even the majority. But there is no way everyone will agree it will be game of the year.

Based on the Metacritic score, I think it is safe to say 49 people enjoyed the game every much.

VG BAFTAs give out a pretty major GoTY award, I'm thinking along the lines of that.

"The Good

Immense world stuffed with varied tasks to perform
Dragon battles are a blast
Lovely art design capped by some beautiful, atmospheric touches
Enjoyable battles that you can approach in a variety of ways
Lots of compelling, self-contained stories to experience in addition to the main one.

The Bad

Glitches and bugs frequently disrupt the immersion
Friendly AI is often more of a hindrance than a help."

Read the comments on the YouTube video, then you'll see why it wasn't a great review, aside from the guy speaking like he was reading off of paper. But The bugs will be fixed on the first day patch.

I think every game ever released should be given a GOTY title. Maybe then we can talk about the merits of the game itself rather than the awards it gets.

Ermm... have you ever actually played a Bethesda game? Oblivion still has bugs today. And they've come out and said that they leave some bugs in because they find them amusing.

Game of the Year is generally not based solely on review scores. There's a lot more to consider than that. Wait and see, and for that matter play the other contenders, before you can really judge. We'll see.

Alright, I'm asking.

What Le Petit Fuck is the Game of the Year thing about? Is it an ACTUAL award? Is it MANY awards? Is it just a personal thing that everyone tries to attribute to everyone else? Is it based on aggregate scores (anything other than "yes" renders this topic completely meaningless, incidentally)? Is it based on sales figures? Is is based on good old personal preference? Will I end this paragraph of questions in a question? It seems like I will, doesn't it?

I... don't really think so. And I just knew this thread was gonna be about Skah-remm. Actually, I don't think "game of the year" should be a thing. Why the fuck is it a thing? People and opinions and assholes. You know the drill.

I think its safe to say... that GOTY is a crock since there is no governing body around it and lots of people release a GOTY award with none being more valid then the other.

Aggregate sites are just a collection of opinions that people have about games in reality. And, ladies and gentlemen, reality has a well known liberal bias!
