You mean 75% of hitting on the paper target at 200 yards? If that is the case it is terrible. Not only should it be 100%, a decent grouping should be around 3 MOA with iron sight. If you already have an AR you should stick with it. A standard AR will get you sub 1 MOA at 100 yards with match ammo. A match grade AR15 should get you sub .5 MOA. at 100 yards with match ammo.

What you need is more training and shooting with match ammo. Normal/military ammo will only get you 2 MOA at best even with the most accurate rifle in the world.

If you're going into survive mode, 22lr rifles are the best for those situation. .22lr are light weight and easy to carry. They will take any small game for food. Here is one of the best survive rifle ever made.

Trust me you do not want to hump a heavy firearm for any amount of time. Precision rifle are heavy and the more weight you carry the less chance of your survival. Travel light.

If you have a hunker down mentally, go buy a farm as far away as possible from civilization. Grow your own food. Don't stay in the city because there no way you can defend your supply for a period of time.

I went through the hunker down mentally over ten years ago (Y2K). My conclusion is you either run out of supply and die or you get kill trying to defend it in an urban area. The best solution is take your family and pets out of urban area right away. Take what you need, a lot of fuel, and keep driving until you run out of gas. Don't stop for any reason. This was proven correct with Katrina. The people that got out of the city fair much better than those that stay.
I already live in western Kansas (90 miles from a moderate sized town and nothing in between) and my fallback location is even farther in the middle of nowhere.

I do need to start using more match grade ammo, I think thats why my aim is off from time-to-time.

I did edit my last post to add some more detail. Here it is if you missed it.

-----------------
This is what my survival get out of dodge kit looks like. Lots of fuel for the car. Make sure it is properly store in the home so it won't burn down the house. Bag of clothing. Bag of medical supply (first aid kit, trauma kit, etc) and common tools (knife, folk, spoon, plate, pan, paper, pen, maps, screw driver, etc) in it. Couple of bag of can food that should last the family for a week or more. Several cases of bottle water. Total cost should be around $300, for me anyway.

It is also assumed that you should have at least one firearm for protection with enough ammo (4 to 7 magazines).

Make sure you have a vehicles that is large enough to carry those supplies with your family and pets. One more note. Trauma kit is vital ($30-$75). You should have at least one. Make sure you learn how to use it.
------------------

The biggest mistake I made was over thinking it. Keep it simple and get out of dodge when the time comes.

All you need is more training and someone to teach you to be an accurate shooter. You can start with David Tubbs videos. He is considered the best marksman alive.

I always thought you couldn't get Barrett due to all those stupid fucks firing from the hip and killing themselves. But as for your question, please don't buy a gun, down here in Australia we go just fine without your strange need to bear arms.
Different countries, different cultures. The US is a gun culture. It was founded by people who desired self-determination and had to fight two wars to get it. Every citizen doesn't need to own a gun like they did 200 years ago, but guns are just a part of American culture now.

Guns do have non-criminal uses: target shooting, hunting, and self defense. Wanting to shoot for recreation does not make someone a crazy mass murderer. Shooting a large, powerful gun feels awesome in the same way that driving really fast in a sports car feels awesome.

So please, non-Americans, understand that our apparent obsession with guns is a product of our history, and that many people desire to own weapons because it is a legitimate hobby. Call it extravagant, many hobbies are.

Not necessarily. It varies by state, and by situation. Regardless of the law, unless someone has entered your house with a weapon and you are in immediate danger of serious physical harm, killing an intruder is not justified. Legally, it would be considered murder in many cases. Killing also has the unfortunate effect of causing lasting psychological trauma.

This isn't to say that pulling out a shotgun when someone breaks into your house is a bad idea, but generally the intruder isn't interested in a shooting match and will GTFO once they hear the "ch-chunk" of a 12 gauge being pumped.

Every man with a penis has the potential to be a rapist, but most men aren't because they are not mentally diseased freaks.

The people who purchase guns with the intent of doing harm buy them off the black market. They don't go through the effort of getting a class-3 gun permit. The government actually does require things like background checks.

There are so many weapons in circulation on the black market that if all licensed guns were illegalized and seized by the government, there would still be enough of an illegal supply to last for years.
I respect this, but it still doesn't make it a good idea.

Jesus christ.

Those things are for taking down light armour!

Go with the Bravo. It's cheaper, and NATO rounds are cheap and easy to get. Plus, what on earth could you possibly need an anti-materiel sniper rifle for?

Hell dude, in a couple months I'll be firing off one of those snipers after my friend gets one. He's a little obsessed with weapons.

Second Amendment seems to be the only bit of the constitution left in America though.

I have a good bug-out kit set up. Mine does not assume that my vehicle will run (In event of a Nuclear nation detonating a device 25 miles above the Earth, electronics will be fried for a area of 2000 mile diameter. I have MRE's and water to last 2 months. My bug-out kit is more of a 'fallback' location that I keep secret so if an enemy nation does invade I can mount an armed resistance.

I wish there was a good pro (or at least neutral) Government Militia. I never did like the anti government ones.

I'd choose the 50cal, simply because it is much better looking.

To my knowledge no, unless the law changed the highest a citizen could get is .495, or something close to that.
Only in California... Where apparently 'heat seeking' bullets and larger calibers are, "More dangerous," are considered evil.

In Kansas, almost anything is fair game. However, full-auto weapons are kind of a gray issue. They are legal, but they also aren't. It depends several factors, a LOT of money, and a LOT of peperwork.

Why are you interested in purchasing a high powered rifle, anyways?
For the fun of it, and to brag that I can hit a target at 800 meters.
You could always go the (slightly) more economic approach and get an AR-30. It's a bolt-action .300 Win-Mag, and it's perfectly capapable of hitting a target at 800m. A Marine friend of mine has one, and he loves it! It would be a a little cheaper to shoot than a .50, and it fires a very accurate round that isn't $2 to $4 for one.

All the people freaking about why does he need a .50 cal sniper:
You know how many people in America have been killed by 50.cal's?
ZERO
You know how many people were killed by SUV's in 2005?
4,666.
You are more likely to be killed by a chainsaw than a .50
You are more likely to be killed by a random seizure after years of playing video games with no problems.
Which should we ban first, smart escapist legal experts?

OT: I say the r700 based one. If Kansas turns sensible and bans .50 cal's then you can still shoot yours. It's based on a hunting rifle after all.
Yes because cars that a built for driving are more dangerous than guns built for KILLING. hes buying a gun for taking out armored cars and light tanks!? And for what? To shoot at some old cars or some targets. Its like saying "0 people killed by nukes in america, lots by cars, nukes are safer than cars." The reason people are not killing by barretts is because no one is allowed to have one for that very reason.
I think you might be forgetting this, owning a gun in the USA does not make you a criminal nor does it make you a murderer. I don't understand why so many people are freaked out by guns. Im not trying to slam you, Im just wondering? Just remember not all gun owners are criminals, or murders.
I think it's because owning a gun (or rather the type of firearm being discussed here) does make one a criminal in the UK and many parts of Europe. They have been groomed/raised/brainwashed to think anyone who wants to own a large caliber semi-auto firearm has aspirations of a criminal shooting-spree.

This one.
Definitely the right choice.
But if it has to be one of the two, I'd choose the Bravo for it's more practical calibre and bolt action rifles are more accurate generally.
Im no gun expert or in the military but my friend that was in the marines said that the firing machinism has little to no effect on the accuracy of a gun, that is ifcomparing a semi to a bolt action. Reason why bolt action rifles are preferred is because they can be loaded when ever the shooter wants to, since a cartridge hitting the ground or flying off the chamber could be a give away( a rarety i assume). We had this conversation a few years ago when Cod4 was released.

I would also like to point out how ridiculous the people seeking to ban .50 sporting rifle are. Just listen to this New Yorker:

Heat seeking bullets?! Well now I have seen everything! She's right in one respect, you cannot hunt deer with it. Well, you could, but I don't think it is legal. I haven't looked at maximum caliber restrictions in Kansas, but you can in fact hunt large game with a .50.

A .50cal rifle is in fact PERFECT for hunting the following large game found in the U.S.:

Bear (Grizzly, black, Kodiak)
Elk
Moose
Bison

And that's not even every large game animal that a hunter can hunt. If I was to include large game animals found in Africa, a .50 would seem even more suitable as a hunting round!
